2fluoresecent tubes about 4 feet long. another fluor tube. and two yellow basic sockets. fan is on when lights are on 18/6.
should the fan be on when lights are off?
watering when top is about dry.every 2-3 days so far.
how big of plastic pots do i need?
i cant afford hps right now should i just get a bunch of sockets with those basic bulbs??? allhelp appreciate thanks guys///

okay first off, by basic bulbs do you mean just regular house bulbs or cfls(compact flouro lamp)?? you need cfls. just a regular house bulb wont work. cfls are the lights that are spiral shaped if you dont know. and by starting to flower do you mean showing pre flowers? because to flower a plant you HAVE to have your lights 12/12.they need atleast 12 hours dark to creat the chemicals to start the flowering process. and if the clones are still pretty small ( couple inches or so) i would go with small pots, probly about 6-10 inches. and for the 1 footers i would go with atleast 2 gallon pots, maybe even 3 or 4 if they have alot of root mass. hope this helps homie

and for the fan, leaving it on while lights are off will make the stems stronger and thicker, but if your temps stay low enough it wont hurt em to turn the fan off.

Leave your fan on 24/7 mate. It aint just to thicken the stem or to keep temps down. The plants need good air circulation too. Cfls can also become false economy, you will need a good few of them. The only thing about cfls are that they are cheap and readily available.

if you're using fluorescent lights i'd leave them and the fan on 24 hours.
Leave lights on 24 hrs? To flower? Regardless of what lighting used you aint gonna flower a plant under 24hr light! 12-12 for flowering. 18-6 for veg and 24-0 for seedlings!:dunce:

he wasn't asking about flowering. i was saying use 24hrs for seedlings and veg. plants don't need rest so the 6 hours off during veg is time wasted

yepp deffinatly gets em extra grow time to leave the lights on 24/0
the only time i suggest turning em off befor flowering is if you have a small plant in a big pot. all the plant does at night is grow root mass, witch it does with lights on any ways...

calculate how much the light and sockets cost then see how much a 150w hps and ballast cost...ru sure your asking the right question...cfls shouldnt even be a topic unless its for fun or experament

All a plant does at night is develop root mass? Think someone needs to read up on basic photosynthesis. The dark period is when the energy taken from the light during day is converted into chemical compounds which are used for new growth. 24hr lighting does work, yes. Try a comparative grow with 1 on 18-6 and 1 on 24-0 and take a look at the results. Then you have got to think about the 6 hrs of a light burning when it doesnt need to be and the additional cost incurred through this.

Pack on as much light as you can once you start flowering, even sooner is better...

Get them in their final pot as early in flowering as possible, if not before to eliminate a big shock (transplanting them half way through flower)... A 5 Gallon pot will be enough indoors...

I believe 18/6 lighting is better if you want bigger plants.. 24/0 will keep them much shorter and compact... 18/6 potentially requires having to support the plants as they may stretch a bit more... 24/0, especially w/ CFL's sitting right on top the plants will keep them extremely short...

good luck!!
