you probly have some slugs here in oregon. look for their slime trails.
you can do beer traps, eggshells or sluggo. I just used some sluggo on mine and it was very good to get my revenge on those #$%@^%@&^'s!!! the clones I just put out would have made fine small plants here in oregon but the slugs stripped half the leaves on most of them.
be generous with the eggshells if you go that route... if you leave a route for them to get in, they will. surround each plant with a big pile around the stem and make sure the plant dosent touch the ground elsewhere.
beer traps work, but this late in the season there is no room for error, or a slug that dosen't notice the trap before it notices the good stuff. IME, go with the sluggo... i don't remember what they use, but it's not toxic to much of anything else and it breaks down to basically organic components. feel free to correct me if i'm wrong but if newbie dosen't want to do his own research, i'm not gonna either. that's what I know how I know it.
