Attached are photos of a grow room I just finished building. there are some problems with it that I know of, such as having a way to raise/lower the light. I'd like you guys to give me a few comments the design.
It's 4ft wide, 2ft deep and 4ft high. The light is a 400W HPS.
The 3 computer fans do about 400cfm combined and the in-line light exhaust fan does 160cfm. they are able to keep the temperature around 85deg F.
I am using seeds from a friend who grew a few plants outdoors but did not destroy the males.
When they were about two inches tall, the seedlings started basically falling over. I started them in a plastic storage container with two 26watt CFM bulbs and 1 exhaust fan at the top. I don't think I was watering them enough. Anyway, I decided to transplant them into the grow box after about a week and a half after germinating. After the transplant they immediately perked up and started growing a lot.
I didn't do enough research initially, so the soil is 2 parts Miracle-gro, 1 part vermiculite. After reading through this site, it's obvious I shouldn't have done that. I also decided to plant some in smaller pots and some in larger ones to see the difference. I tried to put the seedlings with better roots into the larger pots.
Now for the problem... Some of the seedlings, particularly the ones in the smaller pots, are doing fine from what I can tell. The ones I planted in the larger pots are definitely not doing so well.
On virtually all of them, the oldest set of leaves are becoming wrinkly and very dark around the middle of the leaf. I tried to get a photo of them but it's tough to get a clear photo in the intense light.
Also, the vertical growth is extremely slow compared to what I've seen on a lot of the grow videos on this site. I suppose it could be the strain, but i'm worried it could be because of stress. I guess I should also say that I think I've been watering too much in the past week (which is when the problem started becoming more apparent).
