Ok, well, with this being my first time growing do you think I should start off with a smaller space? And whats the benefit of a recirculating deep water system over just a deep water culture? And for the cfl's, I really want to use them because of stealth, around here the cops are constantly flying over searching.a broad question and not a cfl expert but look into RDWC, where you have each plant to its own bucket and a recirculating rez. As far as CFL your going to need a lot of lights to cover an area that size, as each plant needs to be surrounded by cfl's. Might want to look into HID's and air cooled also if you worried about heat
Thats exactly why I want to use the cfls, around here the cops are patroling the mountains with those helis 24/7. And Im really not too worried about the smell, but definately am worried about the heat. Thanks this helps alot.I don't think the CFL is a bad idea.
Odds are those helicopters over head are using heat signatures to locate grows. I would definitely focus on ventilation and cooling to keep temps down. I had a friend run his lines a good 20ft away from the building while using 6inch inline fans to help the airflow in such a long vent. They were only $12.99 each. It was buried underground and helped immensely with smell and heat.

And would I still need the air stones?There are several advantages to connecting your buckets together with a reservoir and circulating your solution in DWC. Having a reservoir gives you a single point for adding fertilizer, adjusting PH, and emptying your system instead of dealing with each bucket individually. You can even have the reservoir outside the room, which allows you to check PH and PPM while the lights are off. Having a reservoir outside the room will keep your system cooler too.
Circulating your solution between the buckets and the reservoir keeps your PH, PPM and temperatures uniform system wide. Circulation also helps prevent root rot, which is a big problem with DWC systems.
