Newbie, second grow starting

Hey guys,
So I just got sick of paying dispensary prices. Decided to try my hand at growing my own. The Mrs was keeping me on a fairly tight spending leash. I started out with a 39"x39"x73" tent and a Mars hydro 300 watt LED I got as a package on eBay. Then along the way I bought a 6in inline fan, a couple clip on fans, tds and pH probes, gh nutes etc. My first grow.went horrible. I know I was very under prepared, I did countless hours of reading etc. We were forced to move in the process I had to move my tent out to shed for a few weeks during the wildfires, for the showings etc. Out of 7 plants I ended up with about 3 oz. I was very disappointed to say the least. Given what equipment I am working with and my supply of nutes I feel I should do way better on this go. This one I have 3 auto candy cane in coir. Any thing with my equipment that you guys can spot any problems with. I am planning on getting a 1000w cob in a few weeks with a smaller tent, put the 300 in there for veg.

I think a new light will give u more weight. Always be proactive about bug and mildew treatment early on. Carbon filter if smell is a concern.

I have a carbon filter mounted to the intake side of the fan. I had to replace the filter during the fires. I am at the worst spot in bc for the smoke. Having to put it out in the old make shift shed really depleted the lifespan of the filter. I feel as though my setup and location are setting me up for much better results. So my tent is 9.9 sq. Ft. That should mean roughly 30 watts per square. Ft. Will a bigger light make a drastic difference or can I get by with this one? I just moved and cash is a little tight

carbon filters the air coming FROM the tent to the outside. not enough light for sure. don't know about the mentioned cob but 600 hps light would work great in that sq. meter tent. amazon has complete hps setups for a few hundred.

Yes, a 600W hps would kick some serious butt in a tent that size.

Most hydro stores will get you out the door for under 200 on a 600 watt system. I got a 1000w kit on Amazon for 180 bucks, ballast still runs great after over a year. Can't even complain about the cheap bulbs they sent with it, first grow with them went great then swapped to hortilux, but I've considered just getting a new $30 bulb every harvest over 60 for a hortilux every other.

Edit: I got a vivosun kit in case you were curious. Their tents are not bad either, definitely a lot of pinholes though. Much less than the ipower tent I got as a hand me down though.

Sorry I didn't word that correctly I have my carbon filter on the intake side of the fan, ducting on the discharge to atmosphere

Well me beinge. I have spent the past 3 hours researching diy options for cobs. Unfortunately I have smoked a few and my brain is just scattered. Can anyone suggest an optimal set up for considering and driver's. I want to go a bit above and beyond but still cost effective. I have no problem putting in the work. I just want the best for my babies and to keep power bills low

No need to hijack people's posts create your own.

Also kerovan, I am getting a setup from Amazon, was gong to go through a local shop, as I do like to shop local, but he cant come near the price. Would you recommend the mh/led mix for veg or only host and led for flower? Currently I have 3 candycane autos and 1 uk cheese also auto. And while I've got you. For power consumption. Diring flower would it be ok to run my led 24 hr. And my hps 12/12?
Wife gets upset Everytime this hobby costs me money, yet she loves the smoke lol better then dispensary prices any day. I grow in coir, with an awesome supply on nutes I am figuring hps and led I have 734 true watts. Should I give my head a shake when I expect over a pound? Also of using both led and hps, at 600 watts on the hps, my ballast has 3 settings 50. 75, and 100 %. Should I be adjusting that?

-The more light the better. Use both LED and MH for veg and then HPS and LED for flower.
-You said you were doing Auto so you would just stick to a single light schedule like 18/6 or 20/4 (my Auto knowledge is old and rough)
-A pound from 4 autos is a bit hopeful for a "real" first go at it.
-Keep the ballast on 100%, from my research the dimming feature shifts the bulb spectrum as it was designed to run at the spectrum at 100% power. I played with my Phantom II 1000w 110%+ super lumens on USHIO GRO LUX bulb just to see. Needed sunglasses lol.

Lol I bet. I just figured I had almost everything dialed in and a pound was possible. We will have to see. This is a first run at autos. 2 nd run ever indoors.

Also how do you feel about a 18/6 entire life except for 4 weeks in a cfl setup, with auto's, I know it's not your specialty bit I want as many stains at a personal disposal as a dispensary
