Newbie Trying to Grow in Closet

no...I'm here to help you too, but kmk keeps beating me... :-P
2' closet like me... I use flur's for vegging(nice and cool) and I use a 150 watt hps for flowering in my 2' closet not as hot as a 400, if you get the 400 may have to add more fans or an exhaust?

Ok and if i buy that light and a fan, is there anything else that I would really need? Also Im going to buy a smart pot. I dont know I can find fox farm soil around here, any other high quality alternativeS?

soil... I use Miracle grow/perlite but not good to start seeds in, it can burn them, unless you find the seedling starter soil which is nutrient free :mrgreen:

Ok and as far as lighting, an hps light is pretty expensive. Any alternatives that would still make my plant grow nicely. and you mean miracle gro seedling starter?

You can get Cfl's too they are cheap. preferred 6500k for veg/ 2700k for flowering. Yes mg seedling starter is best to start them out. Then when they are a few weeks old you can transplant to any soil you like?

Go to Home Depot and buy a $10 4 light vanity mirror strip. Like those things on the wall over a mirror. Get 4 Y sockets for (2.50 each) $10. Go to WalMart (best place for me at least) and get 8 Daylight 23-26W CFL bulbs. They come in boxes of 2 for like 8 bucks. You need 4 boxes. $32.

Put it all together and you just built a 200W fixture for 60 bucks that is cool, quiet and efficient. If you just want to grow one plant, that is all you will need. When you flower, swap 4 bulbs for soft whites of the same or higher wattage.

I built this 156 watt light from supplies from wal mart for 25$... You can easily upgrade/downgrade the wattage simply by changing the bulbs of course.

and I'm using this light just for one of my plants...

i use cfls during my veg as well but i use the larger ones from home depot, the 68w/300w equivalent($14 at home depot) and i add 1 colored bulb(blue/red) just for fun it may or may not affect the yield but it cant hurt for a $1 a bulb.($4 at home depot)
in that space you can do way more than 1 plant, but if ones all your doing even if your gonna do a just a few more and your on a budget go the cfl route they treat the plants great and they treat your wallet even better!!!!! the plant in my avatar is white castle strain 2 weeks old under one 68w cfl and 2 13w blue/red cfls...
as far as soil go to the foxfarm website and chek the find a dealer near me option.. im sure there are a few stores near you that sell FoxFarm light warrior... its perfect for seed starting...
