i just switched from daylight to cfls. i have 2 2700k 1200 lumens abou 2 and 3 inches from the plant. last night i had one cfl on it fourabout 14 hrs and noticed almost a half inch in growth over night. now i have two cfls and 6 inches above the cfls i have a 75 watt incandescent. it seems my plant is preflowering. it is only 6 inches though maybe and inch or two more. should i force flower now. considering growth during flowering would it be ok. i know it would be a small yeild but could it work? im on a 24 hour cycle and im anxious to yeild to perfect my technique so i can get my other plant in the lights

marijuana can be forced to flower at any time. 6" is very small, and thus your yield will be pretty small. i would at least let it grow to 1' before forcing flower. harvest height may be like 18" or something. keep lights on 24 hrs a day to keep plant in veggie mode, then switch to 12/12 when you want it to flower. the garden is at maximum efficiency on a 24 hour light schedule....

it is showing pre flowers because you switched to lighting used for flowering(it helps to induce the transition, more red light) I would suggest a lot more light though... I only had my plant in veg 28 days, it is in day 39 of flowering now and just under 2ft tall... I have 14 bulbs pushing over 20,000 lumens in a 2ftX15inch grow area height is 34 inches...Try to get at least 3000 lumens per sq ft to your grow area for a minimum...

Check out my grow... https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/186038-first-grow-any-input-would.html#post2401977

i have combined 2400 plus an incandescent hovering over plant i want to force flower soon but i want a yeild to know i can do it. do u know about height? i need an idea if i were to wait a few more inches would it be a matter of days or weeks? its indica and it grew almost a half inch over night since switching lights. is it going to keep growing fast or will is slow down as it gets used to the adjustment of lights? i also noticed the preflowers are very small but in my opinion look like pears can sex be determined?

incandescents are a waste of $$. plant will grow in flowering for a short time, then focus it's energy on bud production. if they look like pears, you have a male plant. cut it up and throw it away. :(

yes, with preflowers the females should be shaped like more like pears, and at some point should grow 2 hairs from it, sometimes takes a day or 2 to show the hairs...I wouldn't consider the incandescent as a benefit, I would think it would harm the plant more than help with the low amount of usable light it puts out and the high heat...

My plant(mainly indica) was about 9 inches at 28 days...Started flowering at that point, it is now just under 2 ft(hoping to get an ounce, maybe a little more)

yea i have light fixtures on the way did the preflower happen from changing from incandescent to cfl? i think untill i get the money im goin to have two cfl 1200 lumens on the plant 24 cycle

it is definately pear shapped is there a posibility that its new growth? cuz ive had it on a 24 cycle the only thing i changed was the lights from incandescent to cfls

for veg you want the 6500k cfls for flower you want the 2700k...more blue light as is natural for veg and more red for flowering...(you could do 6500k for bot or 2700k for both but that would not produce very good results) the switch from the blue daylight cfl to the red soft white cfls usually helps to transition to flower, which may be the reason it is showing preflowers, but of course the 12x12 schedule will force it into flowering no matter what age...

if the plant is old enough if will naturally show preflowers(usally in a more shaded area...how old is your plant? Does it have alternating nodes?

your plant is about the size of mine 7 inches just measured it? so in flowering it can double in height on the 12 cycle?

your plant may double to triple in size depending on the strain... mine was 9 inches, it is now 23 so increased by 14 inches(makes it a little over double the size)

the plant is about 7 weeks old. started outside as seedling and brought it in. nodes arent alternating i do have three of them. i am just interested in a successfull yeild even if its only a gram. this way i start my next plant which is already growing, i can throw it under a method that works for me then ill worry about more veggie time

and so you know if you started it to flower it should work, low yield but it will flower...many people grow 12/12 from seed...

at 7 weeks it could definately be preflowers. without a picture I can't tell you if its just new growth, but if in veg and it is the first new growth between the fan leaf and the stem \l/ it is more than likely new growth...if the elbow has already begun to grow sprouts from that position, then look between the two portions of stem for preflowers...Most plants show preflowers on the main stem first...I have heard at about the 4th node from the top is the most common place(was on a post here)...

Without a pic it will be hard to know...

well i think i have a plan. my lights have arrived i now have combined 3600 lumens (three 2700k bulbs) in a triangle three inches from light to light to light and 3 inches from the top of the plant. i think im going to give it 48 hours to provide proof assuming preflower is what i see (pear shapped growth at nodes) and if my hairs appear im putting it on 12 cycle

well ill give it a couple days on 24 cycle if it produces hairs im goin to the 12 cycle just to yeild. if it turns out to be new growth ill give it some time to grow. i gues im lookin for alternating nodes to show maturity?

yes, the main factor of maturity is the presence of alternating nodes...mine was nowhere near maturity when I put her to flower at 28 days.
