G'day,
This is my first visit to the website and hence my first post. First I want to say that it is really great to see a website like this. Never would've thought something like this existed on the internet.

I've never grown a plant before, my mate has recentley given me some seeds to plant. But I do not know anything, how to plant them, what to plant them in, how long they take to grow, what you have to feed them, how to tell when they've stopped growing, how to prepare them for drying out, how to dry them, how long to dry them for and everything else. All help and advice would be much appreciated.

I'm a complete amatuer and need some serious guidance! Please give me all of your information.

Cheers, Nugget.

not quite done yet, I have 3 'cheese' grown from 2 week old clones given to me by a friend and the are just going into the 3rd week of fowering and Im hanging about for advice. I have just really left mine apart from watering them so im in no position really to give advice, lol.
I think they are looking ok but dont know much about getting rid of the big leaves to get the light to the bottom. and how much nutes to give and when.

When they're done and you've got it all down send me a PM. I'd really like to know what your mistakes were if you had any and what needs improving. All information is good and you've got three plants to test your theorys out on.

I think i let them grow too big for the space i have, they are in the loft and beleive me things are getting tight up there at the min, i didnt realise that they would still grow in height etc when they go into the flowering stage, and if they grow much bigger they will be too close to the light. I took a few clones from them about a month ago but sadly most of them are dying off.

Dude first grows can be nice, even if it's your first time (I mean, look at mine... every pic in my gallery is my first attempt, using bagseed I was told was Afghan Kush mids. gorgeous, looked like dank, smelled like dank, sticky cheeto fingers from the crystals, but smoked like good mids, saw potential in the seeds if grown properly, and here we are...) You're gonna need to know a bit before you go thundering into this.. I had everything figured out in my head (or so I thought).. but the point is that you should be fantasizing about all the things you're gonna do in growing this plant, what you'll need etc..

I was fine with the following materials to start:
1. Shop light from Wal-mart ($7) for the fixture (the thing you hang)
2. A two-pack of 40w Warm White bulbs (I hate Cool White) ($7)
- Now you have a light solution for $15 - badass
- Benefit is that you can keep the light close to the plants tops (2 in.)
3. Soil (SO IMPORTANT: I don't give a fuck if you have to buy 50 bags of this shit... DO NOT TRANSPLANT IF YOU DONT HAVE TO, k? k. Fill a big ass pot with the soil you wanna use... like, 3-5 gallons will do (I use 5, but walmart has like up to 3) (Just to start, grab some Miracle Gro Organic, this will take care of your lil plants for a while so that you (thank god) do not ask us why your plant is dying from using fertilizer) ($5)
4. Lots of distilled water (.60 - .70 cents each) (get 4)
5. Paper towels (wet them, put your seeds in the towel, store in dark dry place) (iono... $paper towels dont cost a lot of money k!)
6. In 3 days, holla at us and tell us how long those lil white things comin out of the seeds are k?
7. Somewhere inbetween when you start and when the plants have a stem as thick as a chop stick, get an oscillating fan to blow air gently through their branches

Later, in the flowering stage, expect to endure the following expenses (1 month to 6 weeks (I recommend 6 weeks, I did 5, but I was antsy!)

1. 400w HPS Lamp w/Ballast & Reflector - $120 HTGSupply.com
(It's cool, they increase the blue spectrum by 30% in this bulb)
(The entire light system is under warranty by the company)
(You can't get close to beating that price
2. A mini-fan of some sort to dedicate to cooling the bulb so that it will love you long time
3. Mylar

K hit us up after you deliberate between your brain and this information.

What about natural growth, outside in the sun? Does this work? just plant the seed in a pot and put the pot outside?

If this is possible how long does this take to accomplish.

And no Smarty, I'm not high or being funny lol. I'm telling the truth. My friend is a bit stoned though. That "Friend" is not a split personality either rofl.

Thats a coincidence as i have never smoked it either, lol
I know most of the younger generation have all tried it but im in my 30s and it wasnt as available when i was younger. I grow great tomatoes and my friend gave me 3 and said that they were pretty much the same to grow so thats why im such a novice. :? Ill be honest in saying that i didnt even know what it smelt like until a few weeks ago. :-|
