NEWBIES Meet the SEARCH button.. This is how you USE it!

I find it much easier to search RIU with google. Just type what you want first then follow it up with site:rollitup.org so it will only show the results from this site.

For example if you want to search for FloJo's journal you can goto google.com and type "Flojo Vertical 2400 watts site:rollitup.org". The first page gives you exactly that, if you try to search for that via the built in search you get "No results".

omg yeah them "how much will i yield" post are nearly as bad as them important posts like the ones where they bitch about people asking "how much will i yield"?
theyre called newbies for a reason guys! what ever happened to tokers code peace, love & unity????????????????????
peace love and unity is all good but if the newbies werent so damn lazy and actually read through a little bit of the forum before posting questions they would know.. i have love for newbies and anyone in this hobby, but i have no patience for someone who wont help themselves.. i learned to grow from reading books and doing hands on research.. people dont like to read anymore, they want this forum to be like google.. ask a question get an answer, and it is frustrating to the people on this site who try to help newbs out every day and read the same 5 topics any given monday

god helps those that help themselves.

i only joined because after searching for a day or two, reading a ton, still didn't see an answer to my q. so i joined and posted.

i also like the people that bump their post 1 or two hours later. like everyone lives here. need a fast answer? search or faqs (I ain't overly impressed with the faqs here, but you can get answers, and typically more questions)

But also in the newbies defense, a search can pull up 3000 threads. That becomes a daunting task to sift through.

I agree about the same topics being posted over and over. Even if people can't successfully search, they can still browse through the threads looking for a title similar to their question. The forums are divided by content, it's not that difficult to find a thread that answers your question.

It also drives me nuts when they ask a question that has been asked time and again and then they get pissy with their bumps "why won't you fuckers help me?". I always feel like "this question has been answered 50 times on 50 different threads, why type an answer to someone who obviously can't read?"

kids could teach themselves math.... they have a book, and know how to read.... yet we still have teachers;-)

have a little compassion people... some folks learn differently or more slowly than others... not everyone can read the instructions and do the job; some people read too deep into the subject at hand and confuse themselves more, for these folks, making a new thread is the best option.

i understand that there are some threads that are just utterly redundant, but we choose what we click on, and what we respond to...
why, on a website that is about learning to grow, are we most critical to the new people in the hobby??? seems kinda counterproductive to me:joint:

its not about trying to be assholes or thinking anyone is better than anyone else, its just simple that people will get better answers by doing a little research and people will be more prone to help them when it shows they are not just being lazy

Anyone know where I can order seeds from?.......lol

That was a joke. I just thought we all needed to read that question one more time...I'm glad they finally fixed the search function.

This thread needs to be stickied

no it doesn't. i have a thread called "nascar 2009". search for it.
I couldnt find a thread called "nascar 2009" but by typing in "nascar" into the search i came up with a thread called "The Official NASCAR 2009 Thread" i am assuming this is the one you are talking about?

but i do know what you mean cuz when i tried to refine the search and look for "nascar 2009" it gave me this thread LOL

and then when i went to the advanced search and typed in "nascar" it gave me only a thread called "It's Nascar" and nothing else..

oh well it works better than it did
