I've been playing with a wick hydroponic system (Emily's Garden) and trying to grow some hot peppers before trying better things, if you know what I mean. I bought one of the Waterfarm units, not the whole system as Hellborn shows. I'm only interested in supporting my needs, not others. I hope one, maybe two plants will be enough. I will try growing one plant first to see if I'm successful. Since one of your posts offered help to 'newbies', well, here I am. That said, please answer several of my questions.
I bought a computer amoire and put it together without the insides. The dimensions are 32"w X 20"d X 54"h. The Emily's Garden is on the floor of the unit and I hung a CFL from the top. With the light up as high as it can go, I can get 32/34" under it; less with the Waterfarm unit. No venting of the unit, but I can add an inlet and outlet for venting/exhausting. Can I be successful with one plant or should I grow two or three? If only one or two plants, do I need to buy a carbon filter to filter out the smell that the growing plant produces? (Does a pot plant smell that bad? Of course, I know how strong sensimia (msp) can be.)
I'm getting tired of the junk I get from my contact, so I believe anything I can produce should be better than what I'm buying.

Sounds good I would try two or three plants. The smell wont be soooooo bad until it starts to flower. .....pepper??? just grow some ganja bro.

im in my 2nd day of flowering 12/12 was 18/6.plants are 7,5,4 weeks old looks healthy. The hairs or balls, will they be on the nodes, and is that were i look or is there any were else to look.each one looks like 2 hairs stout hairs but they were their be for i went 12/12.but my grow every thing looks great,I have 7 in flower 14 in veg.but their babes.Have 4 out of 5 clones that are still alive after a week leaves look god no new growth yet how long will that take?Those were my first to clone ever.do i still need the give them the cloning solution or should i stop now.And just do water.or water and a touch of nut?

I wanted to try regular plants to see if I can get thenm to grow without killing them off. And, I have a wife and 19 and 18 year olds. i'VE BEen playing with this garden a little over a year. The family now believes I got this system for tomatoes and parsley, etc. I'm ready to try the weed.
Sounds like I should plan on a charcoal filter then for the exhaust. I plan to upgrade the lights to HPS/MH but only 200 watts. Will this be OK? I'm only doing this for myself, with only 2/3 plants. I need to keep a low profile and not add more to the electric bill.

they should show signs of sex on the axils near the top of the plants CLUSTERS of balls =males white hairs =females Make sure there are clusters of balls be4 u rip dem males cause they could be enlarged pistil about to sprout a hair. ...By the way there usually is two white hairs like a v. For clones you should of took the cuttings and diped the bottomes in root horemone powder or gel. Plant them in a medium pref rockwool or perlite/vermaculite the cutting gets its energy from the leaves since there are no roots yet so keep the lights on 24-0 and keep a humidity barrier or a plastic bag over the plants with a vent so the humidity stays and feed them (foliar feeding) them with a fertilizer for veg 1/4 strength no too strong. Give them time sometimes it takes two to three weeks for clones.

Yeah or you can get intead of a charcoal a homeade carbon filter will prob work better. Just get some scotch brite pads and some activated carb (fish section of walmart) make like a pillow case with one of the scotch brite pads then fill em with the carbon sew the end up and put before the exhast or scrubber. Keep it dry. You really dont need mh or hps for 2-3 plants just go to walmart and get some big floresant fixtures and replace the bulbs with daylight bulbs and put a couple of plant and aquarium for the red spectrum this should be fine for veg then for flowering replace with warm white bulbs for light in the red /orange spectrum which is good for flowering. this will keep your energy bill low and be pretty effective they give off little heat so you can put them 2-3 inches from the tops. have fun and be proud when you smoke the weed u grew!!! I got in trouble recently and havent grown recently but I am here to help.

You can put the lights on 24-0 when you plant the sedds in the soil for warmth and the seedlings benifit for reachin to the light from the inside of the soil
