Hello fellow growing community.
I have just finished up this closet grow cab. My overall goal was to have the cabinet blend in, as of course just a regular house hold cabinet. No light leaks, (still filling some gaps) and no smell where the biggies. As far as noise, the cab is in a spare room where I also have small veggies and herbs growing under a t5 in a low pressure aeroponics setup, along with one extractor fan. So the cab noise fits nicely.
The temps have been reasonable, I keep my house at around 79f degrees and it stays about 84-89 in the cab, humidity is 10%-18% since that little space is being vented by a 6in exhaust fan.
The custom dimensions I used made it so I did have a considerable amount of waste. Which is expected when doing custom stuff. Maybe I'll turn it into some garage shelves.
The material:
3 4'x8' sheets of 3/4" Plywood (furniture kind not that rough stuff.)
24' 1x4" common board
1/2" pvc (scrog)
garden string (scrog)
4 hidden door hinges (expensive!)
Weather stripping (doors)
1 1/4" wood screws (assembly)
5/8 wood screws (door hinges)
1 1/4" finish nails. (Face frame)
1 can dark stain.
15' flexible 6" exhaust duct
left over mylar
About $250 total
(Already had the 600w hps, fan and air pump)
I put a 6" inline exhaust fan in the attic that goes down behind 2 closet shelves into the cab that cools the 600w hps. The fan pulls through a 6"x16" air scrubber first, then the fan throws air out of a vent in my roof (already existing). Took me about 4 days to do everything.
