ngb style cab, DOUBLE FLOWER

(Copied from grow journals, noob mistake)

First post ever!!!

I have been lurking in the shadows for a few months now and have learned so much from you great people.

I am designing a cab for a recently retired friend who has a green thumb but no computer, design, or building skills. This will be a copy of the ngb cab but doubled up with 2 flowering chambers to have a staggered grow with multiple strains.

Pictures (thanks to google sketchup)

Mother/clones The bottom chamber measures 24w24d18t. This should be enough room for a few bonsai mothers and a small cloner. Will use either t5 or cfl, not sure yet.

Flowering There are 2 flowering chambers on either side measuring 24w24d36t. Going to go with shallow water culture and scrog. Plan to use cool tube hps but not sure weather to go 150 or 250 watt.

Utility chambers There are 2 utility chambers, each with 1 fan scrubber combo, ballast, and electrical supply. They each measure 12w24d18t. I was going to have 1 chamber with 1 fan but think we would have issues with flowering chambers competing for air. 2 chambers is a little more expensive but solves this issue.

Airflow and smell Air will enter from the bottom in the back. There is a 6in chamber on the back the full width and height of the cabinet. I think i will move the intake holes up to hide them, but this doesn't show in the pictures. Air will be split up to the flowering chambers via pvc going through the 6in space on the back. The pipe will come out right under the canopy. Air will then be sucked through the cooltubes into the utility chamber. Each utility has a bathroom fan placed upside down venting out the back. I will make flat carbon scrubbers to place on top of the fans. The scrubbers will be open at the top for easy changing, remove-dump-fill-replace.

The friend i am building this for likes reptiles so i figure we could put a large cage for his bearded dragon on top of it. This would help disguise the heat coming from the back of the cab. We are not sparing any expenses here, the cab will be completely locked, airtight, and have high quality components. I will be building the cabinet from the ground up to look like a nice piece of furnature.

This is my first design and i have never grown before. Please let me know what can be improved on and if this will even work. I'm not scared of criticism. Thanks for checking me out.

Keep your air intake low, down near the top of your pot or tray, then the fresh air will have full travel through your plants on its way out the tube.
Use a 250w CMH bulb in each side, they put off less heat compared to a HPS.

All air will enter the bottom of the chambers, just above the reservoir in the flowering chambers

I will have to think about the bake a round idea, thanks

I think i might add feet and intake from the bottom. Has anyone ever used one of those darkroom vents for intake/exhaust?

Not many hits eh?

Has anyone ever grown in cedar? It would be great for smell but i wonder if it would give the bud a funky taste. I will post some updates to my sketchup design shortly.

It Airflow: i think we will intake from the bottom using a darkroom air vent. Im worried about pulling used warm air from the back if intake and exhaust are both on the same side. What size pvc do i need to use between chambers using 2 80 cfm whisperlite fans?

Front doors: i want to use 2 sets of rront doors. The 2 main doors will be normal doors, no seals, just something i can lock.

Each chamber will have its own panel with no handle and will be held in place by magnetic strips. The panels will be flish if not set back in slightly. I figure i can use a slightly more powerful magnet to pull the panels out. This will make it more dificult for unwanted people to snoop through my shit should that situation arrise. It also helps to be able to open one chamber at a time to combat smell escaping while working in the cab

Are these ideas worth trying?

Hey courage! Love the setup so far! I think the reptile on top is an ingenious idea for the heat sigs. I myself would like to try something like this..

Subbd. As far as ideas go, I saw somewhere on these forums about an internal locking mechanism controlled voa reomte. id do the legwork for you, but my phone is limited at work lol. This might be a more secure and more discreet way of being in the open.

Your cedar question is interesting, but I personally wouldnt worry unless it was treated, the heat I would think could potentially release toxins whatnot, but then again, were you planning on coating the inside with Mylar or something similar? That might solve your problem there, still allowing you to enjoy that cedary scent!
