(Nirvana) Autoflower Northern Lights or Regular Northern? hmm...

Hey guys, Ive been planning out a micro pc grow box and have been getting everything together and prepared for it. THe only thing i dont have as of yet is my seeds:roll:

After looking around for a while I had my eyes set on Nirvana Northern Lights (one of the big plusses being the low odour it emits). ----Until recently Nirvana released an Autoflower version of said plant :o

Now Im having trouble picking between the two :wall:

Right now though im swaying towards the regualr northern lights because i presume the autoflower ones are crossed with a ruderalis. If i do get the regular ones, i may just try a 12/12 from seed grow. What do you guys think? Yay or Nay on the new Nirvana autoflowers

This is very new on their site, within the last few days. Many here grow auto strains, I never have, I have always had the same concerns as you, we know what it's crossed with. That and I like to clone everything I grow and make a mother. If it fits you, than I say go for it though.

i am assuming that this is yoru first grow. feel free to check out my grow journals. i got 2 autos and a doggies nuts going right now. You might be able to learn some stuff about the autos.

One of the biggest differences between auto and photo is the flowering time. WIth autos you will be harvesting them in about 60-75 days whereas you have to be willing to wait longer and have patience. Also photo's are much harder to keep because they require light/darks cycles of 12-12 so that the plant prduces the flowering hormone. You musty remeber that when growing photos indoors that you must be able to simulate the outdoor conditions, seasons and environment for the plant to grow nicely! Also autos do not yield as much bud as regular but its a lot quicker so its a compromise really.

This is my first grow and i have been reading up on photoperiod and such, So i kinda have an idea about the differences btwn the too, but by far i am no expert. Just that these Autoflower NLs are pretty new, so i was trying to figure out ppls takes on this specific strain for autoflower.

Im still thinking about getting the regular seeds though because you can kinda mess around more with em. I may do a couple in 12/12 from seed and others with 18/6 veg then to the 12/12 flower.

Has anyone tried NOrthern Lights 12/12 from seed o_O === Any opinions?

I would go with reg NL because ive never had a auto but from what i seen it produce not only not as much but a lot less and i would like my time to be worth it!

Hey up buddie, ive currently got a 12/12 from seed nivarna northern lights grow, its going very well!

Personally id go for regular seeds and jus 12/12 em from start. Northern lights tend to take very well to that. There aint any grow logs around yet for the autoflowers cos there so new...maybe you should be the first? =P

Autoflowers are exceptionally good tho...ive had a few and there so quick and easy, the smoke may not be as jaw dropping as regular seeds but it still gets you pretty fucked up! Its up to you but id go regular and 12/12 from seed simply cos its better documented at this time!

Hey COvert Ops- I have seen that thread, I subbed :) Hes doing just about what i plan to do. Cfls Northern lights 12/12 from seed. At least for my first two grows. Anyone think i can grow two at a time in A Pc box o_O

ive done a few pc grows and the main issue is how much space the CFL's take up. short T5 tubes are the best and allow for maximum verticle growth...but most people jus smack a few regular bulbs in. Wot light setup u usin?

havin two actual plants in side by side isnt really much of an issue, as mentioned the limiting factor is verticle growth.

I was planning to put in some 26w (not equivalent) Coiled Cfls. 17" is the height of tower though :-/. I plan to LST the plant in case of anything. Think i should have a big problem with vertical growth?

so if the tower is 17'' , your probs looking at 12''/13'' max plant height. Tbh id probs go for a NL autoflower...it will be the same size if not shorter than a regular 12/12 from seed. Will also be quicker because u can have the lights on 20 hours a day and will yeild the same.

You may still need to LST it, so probably best planting one at a time.

You will also need a few of those 26watters, of mixed spectrum...most 2700K but at least one 6400K. I'd probs go for an absolute minimum of 3 bulbs all together.

Yea Im going to set up about 3 fans, with like 5 of those 26 watters :). I may just do a 12/12 from seed on the regular northern lights. Im thinking the regular seeds because they are more versatile. I can clone if i choose to, and possibly get a hermie with some seeds from one of them :P

i grew 12/12 from seed in 16oz pRty cups and ended up with a qt ach plant \my biggest plant was a 14gs

i just planted my northern lights autos 2 days ago, and im keepin them on 18/6 with a 150 watt cfl. does anyone know how long it will take to fully grow them?

This is my first grow so any other advice about northern lights would greatly help.

pc's are too small. take apart something else and make a grow box out of it like a tv or old comp monitor. i made one out of one of those old projection screen tvs and grew 3 nice plants. if space is an issue try to put the comp tower on top a wooden desk with drawers and drill a hole through the bottom of the comp through the top of the desk and put the pots inside the desk to save you some vertical space. idk i just think you'de only get a quarter max out of one of them pc's but then again i've never done it. good luck.

I'm growing the NL autos now, dont get them. They take longer than the regs, grow just as tall, and yeild half as much. They are fucked up! All the new auto are the same with Nirvana. See my grow at the bottom if you want to check it out.

Here is a pic of my NL's at 4 weeks, getting ready to 12/12 them any day now. First time growing store bought seeds. Can't wait to try them.

In Hempys, perlite/magikmoss 50/50 mix. with Oscocote/Dynamite ferts, 50/50
They are growing like crazy.
