Looking good. I get why you have your light high.. but then again I don't. This is more for my own curiosity than saying you're doing it wrong.

Anyways your plants look great but your light is at least double the height of mine. Kind of curious why you don't have it lower as there's not much heat etc.

Thanks

My xgs 190 is on its way!! Got last one. I'm really worried about height. Guy on Youtube had a led grow and tops of colas were bleached white. Hoping two feet all the time will be fine.

Do you know the temp difference between inside and outside the tent? I personally switched from hps because I don't want to run the AC.

Good question, let me explain. Being my first indoor grow with this setup all I have to go by is Area 51's recommended light height. 18" to 24" vege mode. In the pictures I take it looks like it's three feet above canopy but it's anywhere between 18 to 24". I was trying to keep at 18 but the leaf edges keep slightly curling up so I end up moving it to 20 to 24". I'll try and get in a picture, also what height are you at on yours?. It seems like when I try to move it closer they do it again. The taller ones in back it's about 17" from top, the two in front about 21 to 22".image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

Outofledcloset, welcome. It seems like when the inside of my house hits high 70's my tent is around 80'. Even when we get these wicked heat waves around 90 to high 90's and I'm running the ac, I'm still 82 at the most but the humidity really drops. And starting tomorrow were supposed to be in the 90's again all week. I hear the potency really drops when you get bleached colas and with the different heights I have I'll bend and even out the canopy as best as I can and get the light as tight as I can and hopefully not do that.

Thanks jartlow, I found others having this light at 12" and doing fine. I wish I could figure what's causing some leaves to curl like that. They started doing it early on around two week mark. I found a number of threads saying lights too close was the problem. That's why I moved them further. Other than that they seem healthy. I'm going to lower it again and see how it goes.

image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg They're starting to fill out more. I topped the three taller ones but the shorty I've left. It is growing but slower than the rest. I also lowered the light to 12 to 15" above canopy. All four are showing their sex now and all are female. Never bought feminized seeds before and was a little doubtful all would be female but they are.

I think you'll see some signs of distress at 12 - 15". I kept fudging on light distance with our XGS because I couldn't believe that closer wouldn't be better. Finally moved it out to about 20" and the plants seemed to appreciate that.

However, I have four CXA3070 COBs placed just outside the corners of our XGS, and they're hanging within 4 or 5" of the tops. The COBs have no lenses whatsoever, so they're a lot more diffuse than the XGS.

Socal, what method of topping did you go with? And did you get 2 tops?

I cut about 80% from the very center top. Being new at this I just took a shot and the one I topped last Thursday has two tops starting to grow. The other two are too soon to tell. I don't even know if this is right but here it is and I did move the light back to 18". I feel like I'm going in circles but I'm having fun no matter how they turn out.image.jpg

Came home from work today and my tent climbed to 86 degrees. I have the a/c on full and the tent open for a little while with another fan to calm things down. Full on heat wave, I work outside and it was 105 where I was at and more of the same tomorrow. I'm almost 60 years old and the last two days I'm really feeling my age. I keep thinking what's summer going to be like?. They're filling out more everyday and I'm learning from my mistakes as I go along. 4 plants is going to be a little too crowded but I'm looking at adding some bulbs to supplement. The short one is catching up to the three I topped. It's the slowest grower but has more inner growth than the other three. image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

What a week, 100 plus temps for most of the week and I'm not sure if the hot temps and humidity in the mid 20's in my tent caused some damage, or if it's something else. I couldn't do damage control until I got home from work everyday so they did kind of suffer. I've got damaged new growth only on the three I topped and I even thought bugs could have done it. I checked them with a loupe and no sign of bugs. They look chewed up on top but the rest looks ok. The temps are normal now and so is the humidity. Look at the one picture, any help or advice much appreciated.image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

There's holes and chewed edges. Only on the three I topped, when you look at the one that hasn't been topped it looks fine. I can't find traces of bugs on either side of leaves. Not in soil or flying, nothing. Am I looking at this wrong?image.jpgimage.jpg image.jpg

If it's a bug it's not a small one. Is there a chance you toped them to close to the node and damaged it, then it shows the damage when it grows out?

You know the more I look at them there's a good chance that's what happened. Another mistake to learn from. I was looking at your thread talking about back in the day when Acapulco gold and panama red came around and man that really took me back. The first Thai sticks, the kind of thin ones were just awesome back then. Four finger "lids", cheap prices. And the concerts! I've been away from growing for more than 25 years and I'm amazed how far it's come along. A lot to learn. And yea my wife and I are getting to that age where health problems are starting. That's why I'm back. I just can't afford dispensary prices.

Wow,the concerts I used to go to brings back some great memories. Started going in the mid seventies to a outdoor place that had a pavilion and lawn seats(just grass no chairs),shaped like a bowl,I think the lawn seats were like $7 or $8 then. You could bring in your own alcohol as long as it wasn't in glass. We even took kegs of beer and they would even let you in early if you had a keg. Lots of the big names of the day played there and I went to a lot of them.
