The JH in flower ended up rusting real bad. I never got it fixed, but the move to the Spectra290 helped buff the buds up some. Nothing worth writing home about in the end, but it was enough to smoke. Initially the Jock Horror sucked - this was right after drying. Once it cured for a few weeks, it blossomed into a very good motivational pot. I wanted to get up and do something; go work in the yard or clean the house.
The Bubblelicious, which I ended up flowering as small plants in SOLO cups, came across as much, much stronger. The indica buzz was there, and after a nice cure - once I drank a few beers and smoked some of this, I was melting into the couch - very narcotic feeling. Wife prefers this one, and I am keeping it alive via cloning.
So, about two months ago I decided to try something. My runoff pH was reading super low - like in the 5's, so I figured I would water with pH 7.5+ water until the runoff was reading 6.5 or so. Well, that never happened. The runoff never really got above 6.10, even after a month. Most of the girls I had in flower reacted very poorly. I initially thought it was light burn, the leaves were turning brown or (light) bronze, and it was happening in the middle of the leaves, and specifically just the top most leaves, which of course are closest to the lights. So I raised the light - the Spectra290 was sitting at about 12-15" above the canopy, now it is at about 24", roughly.
What I think happened, was my genius idea to use such a high pH source, ended up locking out some nutes. And when I tried to feed them to fix the problem, they still couldn't absorb the full nute dose, and started burning. So probably a mix of a deficiency and nute burn. Unfortunately, no pics right now of those.
However, the JH and BBL "mothers" are doing fairly well. Some slight issues, but looking mostly healthy otherwise. I just took 4 cuttings off the BBL, and will be moving her to flower in the next week. The JH mother recently had a shot of nutes, so I will wait to clone her for about a week. By the time that happens, I will be about ready to harvest a few SOLO cups, and might have room to move her over.
The pics of JH#2 below show her after topping, and after I was ready to throw her away. her entire main stem, and all leaf stems were dark purple, massive leaf yellowing and drop. Once I lowered the pH and gave her some of the Botanicare nutes, the new growth looks great. Nice and green, and she's bigger every day.
