Nitrogen toxicity during veg

This is my first grow and I’m pretty sure my plant got nitrogen toxicity during veg. I’m using AN ph perfect and it has been Great until recently. Leaves on the bottom became dark, shiny and clawed but no yellowing. It started moving its way up to the bigger fan leaves but not as bad. I gave it a good flushing but I’m wondering if I should flush again if I don’t see improvement in those particular leaves or slowly introduce nutes back into and go off of newer growth. Thanks

Also wondering if genetics could be a factor. The majority of leaves that are effected have lower blade counts than the healthier leaves. Thanks In advance

Hey Rhody, more specific information about your grow would be helpful to the community. Are you running AN in peat, coir, DWC, soil? How far along is your grow? How many days or weeks from seed?

For example, I've been running soil and some clawing and dark green leaves has been pretty typical upon pot up into heavily nitrogen amended soil. Generally clears up after a few days...

Fox farms soils are pretty hot and don't require additional nutrients for a while. Adding nutrients to a hot soil can be tricky and a recipe for disaster. Just use water and make sure you are getting 10-20% runoff to flush out the extra nutrients you added. The plants will tell you when they are hungry and you need to start adding nutrients.

Using an inert medium like Coco or Promix HP allows you to feed nutrients every watering from the very beginning and you can adjust the nutrients you add according to your plants needs.

Saw your subsequent posts and replies. From what I've heard ,Fox Farm Ocean Forest is pretty hot and doesn't need addtional nutirent.

Relax, water and enjoy.

Sorry about that. The medium is fox farm ocean forest and she’s been growing for about 6 weeks now. My concern is how do I know when she is bouncing back? Will the condition of those leaves improve or should I tell by the newer growth coming in? Thanks

Do your due diligence on whatever medium you choose. All are to be treated differently. Like coco.. has to stay moist.. can't let it dry out. Watering's are more frequent. That's about all I know on coco other than it's considered soilless.

I'm no soil pro .. quite the noob actually..I mixed my first ffof with Dr earth 3-4-6 I believe ? 3 gal pot = bottom 1/3 - 3 tbsp dr e to ffof mixed and put in bottom..top with ffof and transplant / clone/ seedling..when the roots hit the hot soil they usually adjust within a couple of weeks.. trial and error for me.. hope this helps
