No clue whats wrong with my plant

I've had this plant for approx 3 weeks. It started to get brown leaves which curled up. Then brownish black spots on some other leaves, which now turned yellowish brown. I've got 3 42W CFL's on it. It is in a Miracle Grow Organic choice/Perlite soil, and I have added some blood meal to it for extra nitrogen. I am giving it just water. I've looked through all the pictures and guides here but none seem to fit my problem. I thought it might be too hot since the leaves seem a little dry, but I'm not sure. I'm thinking the water might not be draining very fall off the topsoil, maybe making it hard for the plant to take up the water....not sure though.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.

Okay, I tried to break the soil up a bit more, and i added some more perlite to the mixture. What does it mean when my leaves are folding from the outside in? The leaves seem really dry and brittle too... is this from overwatering? Intuitively it seems like a lack of water, but maybe I'm just not entirely aware of the processes involved here...
