Hello to you all good people out there. I am brand new to the forum and seek your advice, experiences and opinions.
I am a personal grower and have been doing do for about 7 years, learning a lot and love to grow bagseeds. It's been great, growing all kinds of strains (not all bagseed) from a Mazar-Darkstar cross to some vintage stuff. Right now I'm on the second grow of a particular bagseed that I've grown before, but this time it's only this one strain in the closet. This mystery genotype has no classic smell. Being bagseed, it was more than likely self-pollinated by itself. The terpene profile of this plant is ultra mysterious.
There is not an iota of skunk.
No citrus, lemon orange or otherwise.
No pinene and no fruit smell.
NO berry smell, neither blue or straw.
I've previously called it 'cheese-type' and I believe it was sold to me as Burmese Kush but doesnt match the description I'm reading online which always seems to include the standard skunk/pine smells.
Okay so there is actually a smell it emits but it's a very dull smell, not cheesy IMO, more milky IF ANYTHING though I dont have a reference for what people call 'cheese' in MJ. It doesnt smell like cheese whiz. Itls very weird... the closest description I've seen on the net might be baby puke, but again I dont have a reference for what baby puke smells like-- I just imagine it's a dull milky smell....
It's at about 5 weeks into flower, and is really pushing out the trichs earlier and more than anything I've ever grown before, but the bud size is average. I think this is due to a close proximity MH HID light @ 12k Kelvin Colour Temp (which really gives out the UVB!) So this time its very concerning to me that theres so much trich development and no skunk, pinene, limonene etc smell readily available.
A smell that I can't relate to anything else, no one would suspect it's weed which is nice for the indoor closet grow, unlike the Mazar-type before which stunk all day everyday from skunk to black licorice to sugarcookies.
Overall it's a musty dull smell , possibly 'earthy' but more musty-dull than anything. IF I grab and rub the buds harshly with my fingertips and smell them, there is a TRACE HINT of the perfumey kush smell, and more a dull sweet smell like industrial public school bathroom handsoap from the 80s-90s, but again totally devoid of the other standard terpenes.
