No taste blueberry

Just wondering how this bud has no taste at all or even smell when opening canning jar. Bud was grown outside in big pot with great soil like fox farms with worm castings bat quano etc. Was properly fertilized fish fertilizer and seaweed at correct stage's of growing. Hung dried two weeks in barn no sunlight, with fans. No mold then mason jar with humidity packet. Strain is blueberry. And was picked just when some trichromes started to turn amber. Seasoned growers and absolutely no taste at all. Good buzz though. Everything done right and carefully how no taste. Best plant ever grown but the taste. Puzzled

Shit genetics?
Bad pheno?
Dried til almost dusty and then not cured but jarred with boveda packs?
Could be any number of things.

What was the temp and humidity in the barn where they dried?. If you put it in a jar with a hygrometer and no boveda pack, what is the humidity?

Not sure if this is relevant but for one they say not to use packs for curing but maybe in attest to that, I bought weed once that smelled great but put a boveda in it because they have been coming with them lately and it stripped all the smell and taste from the weed. Had to of, it happened right as that happened.

I would be weary of that ever since but maybe someone can explain. Was curious about it since but couldnt find a better place to ask till now.

The barn was dry fans were 6 ft away no humidity. Temps at night got to around 40 degrees. It was put in jars when stem made nice snap. Then packs we're at 62 percent humidity. Seeds were bought from well known company. The Jack herer and Durban poison came out great. Just blueberry one.

Fans on them even 6ft away will mess them up. Don’t have any fan movement on them. Point the fans up or down not on them. 40 degrees at night is too low. 65-70 degrees. Humidity HAS to be 45-60. Higher than 60 you’ll get mold and lower than 45 they dry too fast and get that no flavor/smell. Could have also just been that pheno sucks

Thanks will stop fans just barn is only place to dry and northeast tough outside buds always ready when frost and cold set in. Gonna need better temp to dry steady temp then. Appreciate it

"The barn was dry"
---humidity needs to be around 60%

"Temps at night got to around 40 degrees"
---pretty cool. Ideally the temp should be around 60°F

"It was put in jars when stem made nice snap"
--- In my experience, this is too dry, normally. I don't like this reference point because stem sices and structures vary too much for it to be reliable across the board.

"Then packs we're at 62 percent humidity"
--- Don't need these. If over dried, they don't bring the moisture back to the buds. They are dead and done curing. It's too late.

When the buds are dried properly, when you put them in a jar, it should settle in the 58-62% range and stay there as long as that jar is sealed. If it stays lower than that for days, it's too dry. If it creeps higher, open the lid and let then breathe and burp them until it settles in that range.

As mentioned before, you want air movement, but you do not want the fans blowing on the buds. It will dry them way too fast. Boveda packs don't fix over drying. And it's debatable whether or not they are detrimental to the cure. I'd work on getting the dry dialed in and lose the boveda packs altogether.

Because seeds come from a good company guarantees nothing. Even the most fire genetics can have duds here and there.

No not to dry... but to keep your taste while doin it.
You can dry easily and in no time, but the quality of properly dried and cured bud will speak for itsself.
Unless you're growing like you're curing (with no real care, just to get it done).

I've tried dozens of samples of different bb from different companies and dispensaries. I bought around 10 packs of seeds and they've all been bullshit. I didn't get anything close to what I was looking for until I got some seeds from akbeanbrains. If the other 2 varieties were good it's your seed.

Yea makes sense Jack was piney with a distinct smell even from last year and Durban poison hint of lemon both real energetic.

Blueberry sucked every time I grew it, great producer but very bland. Your drying temperature may have had something to do with it too though. I do recall Blueberry having a nice uplifting high. Smoke wasn't bad, just not a lot going on in the flavor department.

No I get everything your saying appreciate it,just that barn right now is only place got so until I figure a better place with heat. Those boveda packs we're used to keep it fresh as possible I thought. Put weed in jar after it dries for a day to sweat then burp then leave to cure for 3 months. I get won't matter now if not dried right. Learning trying to

Maybe get yourself a big box or a chest or a smaller tent or something where you can control the environment a little better.

Easier to hang a couple of wet towels nearby a box that's vented if its too dry where you're currently at.

Not sure this is the best solution, but that's my first thought.

Yea something different now we been drying weed out for years wrong. I was only doing fans so no mold would set in but should of pointed fan down not on. Thought since it was in a barn to but I get 35 40 degrees at night not good with no heat were there hanging to late this year.
