No till, raised beds, scrog- starting from seed

Hello all, looking for input on a grow idea that I've been considering. I have a 15x15' area with 6.5' ceilings in my basement. I would like to have 4 separate 6x6 raised DIY wooden flower beds on rolling pallets with a 1000w light over each bed.

I will be starting from seed, I'm thinking 4 plants in each flower bed. Is this going to be enough room? I will be starting soon on my organic no till soil recipe which I will let cook for a month.

To maximize yield I am thinking of doing a scrog...I haven't done this before and I can't tell from the tutorials if the screen is taken off at some point in the flowering process or do the plants just end up sticking through...every journal I see doesn't show the screen after weeks 6 or so. Kind if confused about the whole process.

Any ideas or suggestion are appreciated.

Love the idea. Ive been getting ready to do a rasied bed indoor as well.
As far as scrog the i put clones under asap. Leave if up whole cycle.

So the plants just grow up and out of the screen towards the end?

I also plan on having a small separate room with mother plants and room for clone production. I will only be starting from seed the first time

i've done scrog before... but if you have 4 plants in the bed and LST them properly, IMO there is no need for scrog. the scrog just seemed to get in the way for me and it's a pain to harvest from. but if your mind is set on that, i say go for it. i just didn't prefer it in my garden. seemed like an unnecessary step.

i think you have a good model in place for a killer grow. i don't think the beds need to be 6x6, could probably be 5x5 and be fine, you'll have better isle space to work and move shit around. those beds are massive to move i bet, even on rollers....

i wanted to build some beds like you, but went with 20 gal fabrics for now (i'm gonna mix a 30 gal soon for comparison) while i get my soil recipe dialed in. once i think i have it perfect, i'll go grand scale and do the big roller beds. the only thing i dont like about the big bed indoors is you can't move it through a doorway (unless you're a baller with french doors on his grow room ). this reason is why i will have each no till fabric pot on its own 4wheeler dolly. to move into veg, veg the plant, and roll back into flower.

are you looking to harvest all 4 beds at once or run a perpetual grow? all four beds at harvest time is A LOT of friggin work lol.

Good point about getting it through the doors. I'm not really set on anything yet as I have not built the room yet...basically only have seeds and a small light for my seedlings. I'm going to attempt running a sealed room and just vent my lights with air from inside the room to take care of humidity, odor, heat all in one vent. At least just while I get started. I am considering doing fabric beds like you to speed things up also

I do plan on doing a perpetual harvest btw. Starting a new group of seeds every 3 weeks or so in the beginning....

yeah this would be difficult to accomplish with big beds if you cant move them through the door. and they weigh A LOT. lol so far i'm loving the fabric containers. the ones i just transplanted into are drying up nicely. i dont like my transplants sitting in too wet of a pot for too long, and try not to overwater when transplanting.

This is an awesome idea. I had 5 clones I didn't have pots for so I put them all in a tote bin filled with amended recycled soil & vegged for three weeks under a 400w mh. The tote bin had holes for locking the lid that I left off so I ran hemp twine in a grid pattern across the top for a scrog net & tied down all the mains. The side branching has now become new main colas. This tub is gonna yield nicely so I know your idea will work. I have dollies I put my large plants on that roll around & I have built PVC frames to tie down the colas when they get heavy. More like LST net than a scrog but same idea. I think if you wanted to get started quickly you could use containers instead of large beds. Might be easier to move around too.

I'm also considering just doing 5 gallon buckets and having two batches of no till soil, that way one can sit and cook and recover in a barrel for 3 months while the other batch is being used....I am inexperienced and really just looking for the easiest way to pull a couple pounds every few months.

you can certainly use amended soils in 5gal containers and do really well with water only. the key to getting yields up IMO, is understanding your plant, and anticipating how it's going to grow. you want as many branches up in the sweetspot of the light as you can get. if the plant has all it needs nutrient wise, and you can shape them correctly, amazing things can happen.

This is basically how I do it but I'm using 10g pots. The key I found is to have 3 separate grow areas for clones & seedlings, vegging, and flowering. The only other suggestion I would make is of you are planning on recycling your no till soil & staying organic consider starrting up a worm bin. With a perpetual setup and access to fresh castings for free year round you'll never run outta quality bud or good active mix.
I drop my spent root balls in a tote bin & break em up with a rusty shovel. Then simply add EWC, coco, perlite, and soil amendments & let it sit for a month or so & then its ready for another cycle. It seems to get better with age

I would consider using 600w lights with that short of a ceiling if at all possible. You're definitely going to have to do some scrog'ing/tying down. Also, depending on the size of plants you plan on growing, and really how long they are going to be in those pots; I would recommend larger pots, and fabric pots. 10-15 gallon minimum, and if I could at all managae it, go with 25's.

From there, if I had 15' x 15', I'd split my space up into two flowering rooms and one small veg room. I'd go with the No-till style in the flower room and rock it out. Fill a room, veg 2-3 weeks, flip. Alternate flower rooms. But that's just me.

I'm with P- I always advocate 600s. i think people really underestimate what they are capable of. especially if you know how to train plants and obtain the max amount of arms in the sweetspot of the lamp, rather than having one main cola with everything else 8-10in below the main cola. just my .02

Thank you all for your input, 600w sounds good to me (cheaper) lol. The beans I have are indicas dominant hybrids....kandy Kush, berry bomb, sleestack (DNA) and another that eludes me. Along with a bunch of freebies that I might try first as my trial run.

I guess I have to decide on the size and type of container, from what I'm reading 15 gal smart pots seem like the the middle of the road option. There's so much information out there my head is spinning

go with a 20 gal fabric container to start, and don't fill it to the top with soil, leave bout 3-4" of space so you can topdress worm casting or finished hot/cold compost when needed. also leaves room for a mulch like dry barley/wheat straw. again, just my .02

correct! bush em out real good. i'll post you some examples of the plant size i like to run in flower, strain depending of course.

And how many plants under each 600?

4 if you can! that's what i'm rockin!

Do I put the germinated seed right into the smart pot or do I gradually increase pot size then end up in the 20 gal smart pot?
