Hi you deffo have to watch th PH in Hydro 5.8-6.2 should be fine ..i dont think you have to worry too much with soil but you may want to get that verified by someone who grows in soil,,

Depends on the type. Generally speaking, if you can put it in the right range, in the right type, you don't need to monitor it. But you do need to make sure the ph is within a proper range.

For instance, I grow in coco, and after I add all of my nutes to well water, I know the ph will be between 5.8 and 6.0. So I don't need to monitor it. I don't add ph up or down. But I don't have a recirculating system.

ph testing is essential for soil and for hydro.
wrong ph levels will lock out vital nutes and cause problems.
i grow soil(organic)and i keep mine at 6.8.
this is cheap combo meter costs about 20$.

Can you grow without monitoring the PH?
I don't think so in a controlled environment. When we fuck with mother nature, we have to compensate by adding all that extra stuff to the grow. Nutes, conditioned water, lights, air, temps, humidity, circulation and odor control, not to mention pests, mold, fungus, etc, etc.
Unless you just plant them outdors and let mother nature tend them for you, I think you need to monitor your Ph.

I spend a lot of time in the FAQ pages. There is a lot of valuable information there.

i started giving my plants bottled drinking water, and they were 100% fine in the FFOF

and then it was too exp to give them bottled water so i tried sitting water for 36 hours and son enough i could see ph problems, tips of leaves curling, dots on the leaves, so i switched to distilled and added an organic nutrient with 8% of ca and 4% of mg and they have been thriving since

i have never checked my ph lol

ph VARIES FROM AREA TO AREA,, TOWN TO TOWN,, IF YOUR AREA HAS A VERY HIGH PH CONTENT IT CAN AND PROBABLY WILL KILL YOUR PLANT,,, AS ANYBODY AND EVERYBODY THAT GROWS IN AN AREA W/ HIGH PH CONTENT KNOWS YOU DEF. NEED TO GET A PH ADJUSTER TO GROW THE NICEST MOST POTENT PLANT I HAVE EVER SEEN, AND THAT ALSO GOES FOR SEEING PLANTS ON HIGH TIMES.... THE WATER COMPANY PUTS A LOT OF DIFFERENT CHEMICALS IN WATER, SO WE ARE NOT THE ONES F-ING WITH IT THE WATER COMPANIES DO,, WE JUST TRY TO GET IT BACK WHERE IT BELONGS FOR PLANTS TO THRIVE.... GOOD LUCK W/ UR GROW..:weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed::weed:
