Hey all,
This year im going to be cranking all my usual growing spots,
but i came across a new amazing one that i think i have to use!

only problem is that its 4 hours away from home,
ill only be able to visit once every month or two to fertalize and water then.

My question is, will the plants be able to grow without much watering and is there anything i can give them or do to help them survive while im away?
The area is good, the soil is moist and rich and there are small water holes scattered all around...

Im not expecting an amazing yeild due to the amount of effort put in, but just wondering what i can do to help and has anyone had experience just planting and ditching :)

Cheers guys

P.S they will be going in as 1 month old plants, into small holes with soil & fertaliser, then surrounded with a wire fence =)

hmm yeah i dont see it working too well without trying a few more things to keep them moist :)
i had a look around, obviously ill use mulch and probably those water crystal things you can buy, but other ideas for people thinking of doing something similar
i found are cutting up sponges and letting them soak up as much water as possible and putting them in the soil
and apparently there are some good drip systems that are easy to hook up too :)

Weed obviously grows naturally without any help so theres still hope :) ill let you know how i go with it !
Thanks for your input

Is there any source of water nearby, preferably uphill from your spot?
I recall someone here used LONG small tubing to tap into a little stream to water his plants. Seemed to work well.

only thing i can think of is to jerryrig a irrigation system from one of those watering spots you were talking about

get a 20 gallon bucket fill it with water overtop of the plant and drill a small like 1/16 inch hole for it to drip out of....this will only last a few days but with some water retaining soil you might be alright..

I have ALOT of exp. with this type of thing. funny thing about outdoors is they have this thing called rain! marijuana is a weed and very resiliant. It may get stunted and you wont getthe greatest yeild from them but unless you live in some sort of desert enviroment they will do just fine, barring some sort of drought. PPL are just used to these grows that are in back yards and get water every onther day or so.

Thanks guys all good ideas , the ground is fairly level so getting water from the ponds would be tough without a pump ,
But I think badandys on the ball , I have left plants In pots for weeks without watering I just add a bit of clay to the soil and it does pretty well :)
I'll try get them to a decent size so they will be busting to be in a big hole and just see how I go :)
Hope you all follow me in the next few months , this is gonna be my big year :)

If it rains once a week to a week and a half that's all they need. If it works well you should expect couples oz to a lb per plant, normal for outdoors ;)

there are water absorbing crystals you can buy at the local hydroshop as well as time released ferts, which are good for 3 to 5 wks between feeding. The water retention crystals will help keep the rain in the ground near the root mass so you should get a fairly decent yield IMO. Sprinkle the noted amount of fert about 6" - 8" from the stock/rhizome area or they will burn the plant.
