node leaf?

I have 3 outdoor plants that will start flowering in another month or so, but I noticed at the nodes there is a small pointed leaf, I'm not sure what its scientific name is... but what I would like to know is on 2 plants they turn away from each other and on the 3rd plant they turn into each other... does anyone have an explanation for this? Should I be concerned...

It doesn't sound like anything to be worried about man. Just watch it if it makes you nervous and if like aliens explode out of it, take pictures and try and get them posted before they eat you. But seriously. Nothing to worry about.

a picture would help, but if its a leaf or the start of a leaf than shes starting to branch out out and these are new shoots which will eventually be new bud sights.. if the growth is coming out of the side of the node and looks like a tiny ball or multiple balls than you have a problem cuz its a male

Thanks bro, my concern is that its an early sign of sex? male or female, females spread their legs and males stick it in... lol its just something I read or heard somewhere and just wanted to know from more experienced growers if this was true... I guess I should take a cutting and force flower to be sure? I'll try and get some pictures posted because I might be having a cpl more issues with these plants

ok here are some pics... the first 2 pertain to my question about the node leaf?

the pic on the top shows them point in toward each other and the lower they point away... right where the new shoots come off the main stalk

is the leaf stem and stalk supposed to show redish purple? one of the plants doesn't show any signs of this yet...

those are stipules. it doesnt matter if they point in or out. Youll be fine.

In botany, stipule (Latin stipula: straw, stalk[SUP][1][/SUP]) is a term coined by Linnaeus[SUP][1][/SUP] which refers to outgrowths borne on either side (sometimes just one side) of the base of a leafstalk (the petiole). A pair of stipules is considered part of the anatomy of the leaf of a typical flowering plant, although in many species the stipules are inconspicuous or entirely absent (and the leaf is then termedexstipulate).
In some older botanical writing, the term "stipule" was used more generally to refer to any small leaves or leaf-parts, notably prophylls.[SUP][2][/SUP]
Stipules are morphologically variable and might appear as glands, scales, hairs, spines, or laminar (leaf-like) structures. A relationship exists between the anatomy of the stem node and the presence or absence of stipules. Most plants with trilacunar nodes have stipules; species with unilacunar nodes lack stipules (Sinnott and Bailey, 1914, cited in Esau, 1953).

^^ what he said those are stipules just part of the growth, they're not pre flowers so dont worry... They look nice though, the purpling stems can happen for a multiple of reasons either the pheno type (just written in the plants code), cooler temps (Ive heard it can be caused if your temps fluctuate more than 10 degrees from the high point to the low), and lastly which kind of ties in with the first and second it could be caused by stress however sensitive the plant is to any changes that may occur.. The dots on the leaves looks to me like some pests nothing too serious for being outdoor just keep an eye out especially on the underside of the leaves, but again looks like they're not really effected by them at this stage which means you have a stronger gene against them but just some caution don't let the pests start getting out of hand
