Noob here. Got a couple questions

OK a little background first. I began germinating on 09/16. I planted first 3 seeds 09/18, 3 more 09/20, and one more this morning. I planted all seeds root up in Peat pucks in a little disposible greenhouse thingy that came with the peat pucks. They will be grown indoors in soil.

Ok my first question is about lighting. I have them under 2 fluorescent lights right now. One is a small 13 watt and the other is about 4 ft with two 40 watt bulbs. So my question is, do they need the light right now? and if so for how many hours per day?

Now my next question is about da roots. Some of the roots are curling above the soil but the seed still hasent sprouted through yet. Did I do something wrong? Could it be that I didnt plant them deep enough? Is this gonna cause problems? Thanx is advance:weed:

**I have a few pix to show wat Im talking bout with da roots.

did you germinate the seeds before planting? and ive heard a lot about lighting, some people say keep it in total darkness until you see green, and some say not in direct sunlight. but i left my under a fluorescent lights and they 3 sprouted after about 4 days. also the roots may be a problem, did you bury your seeds about and inch deep? id probably put more soil over it, but just to be safe wait for another response.

Supposed to plant them root down...

Namaste' :peace:

I did germinate them before planting and I was told to put them about 1/2 an inch down being that the seeds are kinda old, I wasnt sure they were even gonna grow being this is my first time growing. the roots started to pop up outta da soil within a few hours

The root is to be planted downward. it probably isnt to late to take the seeds out and reverse it, just be gentle. Also your lights, are they CFL (compact florescent)? On the box you bought the CFL bulb in, it may say:
"50 watts, but only uses 13 watts". Make sure you pay attention to the part where it says only uses (13 watts) part. Because generally as they get bigger you should provide to them enough light (depending on the size of the plant) Lights should be on 12/12(light/dark), or 16/8, usually. Once they are a a descent height (or after a couple of weeks depending on the strain), you can switch the light cycle to 12/12 (unless it was on 12/12 the whole time).

by the way how much water are you putting into that soil looks saturated never over water rots the roots

@ wowshiv the box doesnt say if its compact fluorescent, it only says cool white for residential use, so im guessing its not a CFL. It says its 3200 lumens. I got them at Home Depot, the guy that worked there told me those were the highest watts the light I got would be able to use.

@ chronhead Ive only watered them once, until the peat was completely expanded, right before I put the seeds in, I havent watered them since.

Thanx for the advice guys, Im trynna prove my bf wrong because he doesnt think I will be able to grow anything ;)
