noob's flower time issues

Hello All! Thanks to all you good ppl @ RIU that have gotten me this far!!!! Lotsa great info on this site!!!

I have 4 Nirvana Super Skunk, 3 Nirvana Northern Lights and one First Girl from AMS. Closet is 10sq ft, 400 W HPS. Vegged 50 days, now on day 66 of flower and I dont see many cloudy trichomes and ZERO amber. Why OH Why is it taking so long? The Nirvana site has 7-9 week range for NL to flower and SS is @ 8-10 weeks. First Girl, ironically, is the slowest...

My questions are:

Do the seedbanks list shorter times to generate sales...is 7-9 weeks really 9-10 and 8-10 actually closer to 10-12?

Does flowering period (as far as how many days are concerned) count from when lights are flipped to 12-12 or when the metabolic change starts (how could I even TELL if that is what flowering period is based on? A microscope? Look for a calyx?)

I stopped feeding on day 49...thinking I had a week left but this has gone longer than expected...hardly any healthy fan leaves and even a few sugar leaves are turning yellow! Should I chop before the sugar leaves turn yellow?

I did notice I had the timer (not a digital one) at 12:15/11:45 by mistake...are those 15 minutes/day of extra light delaying my harvest? If so, fine since that extra light means extra yield doesnt it?

When I see more cloudy and a few amber trichomes w my 60-100x pocket microscope I plan on harvesting the tops and letting the lower buds and the ironically named 1st girl ripen for a few extra days then give them 24hrs of darkness before harvest. any thoughts? should I give a light feeding after I chop the top colas? I fed the 1st Girl last week since it's lagging behind the SS and NL.

Honestly, I think I've done a pretty good job since it's my first indoor grow. My clones are ready after this batch so I think it will better next time. Better internodal spacing (i started w lights a little too far), MORE FIMMING and perhaps 6 plants instead of 8 so they have a little more space and yield a bit more. I think this grow will get my around 9 oz though that's a really rough guess!

I just hope it's ready to smoke on 4-20!!!!! Perhaps I am just nervous since it's my 1st grow and I need to be patient...not sure

Any comments, suggestions or thoughts are gratefully accepted.

look for about 1/3 of the tri to be amber then perfect chop time. other times are acceptable as well a bit before or a bit after

wow! that was quick! Thanks! I was planning since last week to chop today and smoke some scissor hash w brunch! I guess not! lights come on in an hour and I will look again. The hairs are barely yellow, starting to color and are moving up and closer to the bud! This is my first real grow...did research, spent about a g-note for all my stuff from seeds to lights to soil nutes, etc. o

I just hope I didnt stop feeding too early and starve the plants before they are done

Last year I planted a few bagseeds in the backyard on a lark and they got HUGE! so huge i TRIED to masquerade them by buying fake flowers and using green pipe cleaner to affix the fake white flowers to the plant. My landlord told me a neighbor noticed my "exotic plants" in the yard...i told her it was a lemon tree! She bought it for a day and the next day she brought a rasta dude over so I had to uproot it while they were in the frontyard! one minute it was there, next minute it was GONE!!! hahaha

well, im now on day 68...and the fan leaves are nearly gone...most of them dried and necrotic and the others are yellow. I put the timer on 11 1/2 hrs light n 12 1/2 darkness... I watered today with 1tsp of mollasses added per gallon, no more nutes...i wish i fed it for another week or so. a few sugar leaves are starting to turn yellow.

should i stagger the harvest? take the tops off the mature plants and leave the bottom buds longer to ripen as the First Girl finishes?

Is there a point where I cut them down regardless of the trichome color? 70 days of flower seems like quite a bit for NL based on what I've read here
