Having spent a couple relaxing days here at Atlantic Beach, just wanted to say how much we enjoy your state.
Everyone seems so friendly and helpful. Beach is great. We have been coming here last few years.
Next year we are going west but rest assured we will be back. Thanks y'all!

Being a resident of NC.
Our family has been enjoying Atlantic beach for years. Our favorite place to stay was Tar landing it was very close to the entrance of Fort Macon State park.
We recently started going to Lake Lure NC. In the western part of the state.
If you enjoy the mountains I would recommend driving the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Great Smokey Mountains !

We usually find an interesting area and then start searching for places to stay.
We usually rent cabins for the week thru rental agencies.VRBO.COM
Lake Lure is a very nice place you can rent pontoon boats and cruise the lake. The film Dirty Dancing was made in Lake Lure years ago. There are some very good restraunts on the lake Chimney rock is there as well and there is Bryson city home to the Great Smokey mountain railroad and if you're into white water rafting the Nantahala outdoor center both great places to visit and Maggie valley home to the famous moonshiner Popcorn Sutton.
TBH the wife and I are thinking about moving to the western part of the state and Lake Lure & Bryson city are both places we've looked into purchasing land.

Hey Oldtimer54, I was working in Lake Lure In the early 80s, at the Duck Cedar INN. lol you will love it there, I suggest going to chimney rock, and go to the top and look down at the Lake, 5 star restaurant there on the lake looking onto the fairfield mountains, It is a beautiful place, I wish I was back there, I lived in Columbus, for a few years. also working in Hendersonville.

I finally made the climb up Chimney Rock a year ago. I was amazed at how tuff it was and you're right the view was amazing at the top.
I just wished it was a little less crowded.
I would have loved to burn one at the top while taking in the gorgeous views !

I'm born and raised in the Tarheel State .
I haven't seen everything that this state has to offer but I've seen a great deal.
I enjoy the fact that I can be deep in a cave in the mountains in the morning and by the afternoon I can be standing in the Atlantic Ocean. I just wish that the powers that be would legalize Marijuana.

Good ol lake lure!!!! Love that place!!

I've got to go back and settle some old tickets I have. Alcohol possession and public intox!!! The missus and myself will be going this yr. I got the fines back in 2000!

I stayed there then for a few months, even worked at a restaurant called kritters! Odd name for an eatery but great food! Garry was the owners name back then. I fixed the rotten floor for him in his bathrooms that was from a flood years before. I was traveling through and stopped in at a motel and convinced the owner to let me paint it for a months free rent! Loved drinking coffee and staring at the mountains! Good times!!!

As you're neighbor to the north, if your state beard mine to legal (which y'all probably will) I'll be moving down. Interested in going into business together?
