wow i've been busy busy busy since the holiday season has kicked off. things have progressed alot since my last update things are going very nicely. the mother plant i moved her to her own tent seemed like the right move. i have all the clones vegging under some fluorescent lights. as for the large plants were about 5-6 six weeks away from harvest. starting to look more and more perpetual. and here are some pics :joint: its also starting to get very cold may see some beautiful purple colors hopefully like in some of my old grows in this thread.

another update harvest went well everything is now cured and in jars, pulled close to 12ozs thats 1.78g/per watt thats not to shabby, also got a freezer bag full of trim to make edibles with :bigjoint: i got some pics as usual. cut a bunch of new clones for the aero cloner, and put the other clones in the room to veg a bit befor flipping. the mother plant is looking rough neglected her a bit cut her back to nothing after taking the clones imagine she'll bounce back eventually.

well things are moving along took some pics a couple days ago, we flipped the lights since the clones looked big enough were now another 63 days from the next chop. the mother plant is slowly coming back seeing some nice new growth. the clones are looking a bit yellow maby not as nice as the previous clones could have been a slight nutrient deficiency before cutting them. although im seeing decent root development should get a good number of clones. :weed:

nah not yet there still in the fridge maby next year i'll pop them. im saving up for a mini split a/c so i can grow all year round. i also want one of these https://www.htgsupply.com/products/under-current-uc4-system im not comfortable growing outside even though its legal i dont think it would be wise having 10' tall plants in the yard poking over the fence for everyone to see..
Make sure the mini split can handle deepcold temps outside. Some can tolerate down to -30C. If you need winter cooling check it first.

yes that is definitely one of my main concerns i was thinking about maby going with seer alot of there mini splits are also duel heat pumps as well i imagine those run in -30 no problem. im going to get some quotes from some hvac companies and shop around im sure i'll find the right unit eventually for the right price.

still not as purple as years past, definitely global warming the average daily temperature has defiantly changed since i started this little blog thing. for comparison purposes can look at the first post if anyone is curious. after years of growing gdp i think next season i want to try some different genetics im thinking ultimate purple its a backcross (querkle x purple urkle) hopefully more indica dominant and better color.

so recently i tried making edibles again this year i didnt make cookies i decided to make gummy bears im going to post what i did and the recipe i saw on the internet since i'll likely try it again since it went so well. i also need a place to keep this recipe for myself so this place seems as good as any.

so first off the recipe we'll be using involves coconut oil so we'll first talk about infusing coconut oil. In this recipe i used high quality trim from my recent harvest i don't want to waste good flower on something like this. i'm also using molds for mini gummy bears so they are quete potent. the ratio that i used is 100g of trim/per 500ml of coconut oil this seemed to work the best and thats the most i can fit in a pan. other things to note i didn't decarb any of the cannabis in the oven prior to this because i believe the temperature on the stove top while infusing the coconut oil is at a high enough temperature for the chemical reaction to convert THCA to THC.

first off melt all the coconut oil until it is a liquid i put the stove top at number 2.

next slowly add all your trim make sure to get it all submerged in the oil

i then cooked this on the stove top for a half hour occasionally stirring

afterwards i poured all the material into a bag with a micron screen to separate all the plant matter from the coconut oil. its not necessary to use a screen theres other ways to accomplish this i used to use cheesecloth it can be easily be found at the local grocery store in the canning section can often be found where you would buy mason jars. also note it would be wise to have a silicone glove you can wear to protect yourself from burning your hand as you will need to squeeze the oil from the bag or cheese cloth into another container.

now onto the gummies

you will need a scale to possibly weigh the gelatin depending on how you can purchase it where you live. you will require these ingredients

28g of unflavored gelatin (its cheapest to buy this at a bulk food store if you have one)
85g of flavored gelatin (standard size box of Jello) alternatively can buy in bulk and weigh 85g for the recipe.
1/4 cup of infused coconut oil
1/2 tsp Lecithin (i added this to the first recipe i saw online, i believe this acts almost like a binder i believe it helps bind all the ingredients together also found this at a bulk store but had to put it in a coffee grinder to grind it into a fine powder)
1/2 cup of water

first mix the water and infused coconut oil together then whisk the lecithin and all the gelatin in with the other ingredients make sure everything is mixed well. it helps to have a candy thermometer although it isn't absolutely necessary if you make enough batches you will eventually get a feel for the viscosity of the liquid in the pot. i liked to warm everything at number 3 on my stove top. if the temperature is too high you will get hard candy if its too low you will end up with jello.

i had alot of fun making these i did about 8 different flavors i ended up with a freezer bag full of mini gummy bears i eat 4 of these little guys and get baked most of the afternoon these were more fun than the cookies i used to make but much more labour intensive to make. here are some photos

oh i almost forgot heres a link to the molds on amazon so the ratio for the coconut oil will work properly

well i havent updated this journal is ages im still doing things albeit very slowly. im sure we've all heard by now that canada legalized the sale and personal production of cannabis however your only aloud 4 plants. i've recently been building a larger sealed / climate controlled room where my existing old room was, my new room will be 9'x12'. im going to have a titan controls flip box on 240v to run 4000 watts of light going to grow 1 plant under each light just run feminized seeds from now on no more clones for me. for climate control so far i've installed a 2ton mini split a/c i bought one of those diy mr.cool kits it was relatively easy to install and can run up to -15 degrees celsius im planning on running the condensate line to a near by sump same place i plan on running my dehumidifiers hose once i figure out which dehumidifier i'll buy. currently im framing the ceiling its been slow lots of cutting trying to box around various vents running along the underside of the joists. i plan on insulating using r12 insulation and vapour barrier everything with accoustic sealant should work well for sealing the room. havent decided if im going to go bottled co2 or use a natural gas burner we shall see i suppose. im going to give it another shot at the outdoor season this year, last year i tried to grow grand daddy purp outside plant got about 6 ft wide x 7 ft tall was a monster but the yield was meh only pulled 6.5ozs dry very dissapointing indeed. this year i'm going to try doing 4 small autoflowering strains since i think i live to far from the equator to grow easily outdoors. the name is buddha seeds purple kush autoflowering. here are some photos.

I'm planning on rigging a sealed room for CO2 as well. We get down to -38C here and there's no mini-split that can work at that temp so a dual-hose portable is the only solution as far as I can see. For my grow space, 600cf an 8000BTU unit should be good enough and costs about $400 on sale. My grow room is in a cool basement and I've never needed AC in the last 20 years even when running 1200W of HID lights in the summer. Most people have high temp/RH issues that I never have to deal with.

there is a unit that runs at the temperature i just couldnt afford it mitsubishi does sell some units that work up to -40 celsius they dont come with precharged lines though you need an hvac guy to at minimum come charge and pressurize those lines i even saw one of those condensers in person on a building i happened to be doing some work on it had a huge blue sticker on the side of the outdoor unit said -40c with some snow flakes around it. you must live far north like me. what province you in?

send me a link to that dual hose unit i want to look at that, if you need help building that sealed room let know im a red seal carpenter

I don't even know where that link went. Was from HomeHardware. They don't say if single or dual hose so had to hunt the model 3 down to find out. 12,000 BTU I believe. I'm in northern Alberta about a 6 hour drive north of Edmonton.

I'm not sure if I'm going to build the add-on to my grow room. Trying some autos outside this year and if that goes OK will do more next year. I'm pretty handy with a hammer and have worked on a lot of construction jobs over the years. Got a shop full of tools too. Might need a tip here or there tho if I go for it. :)

I tried regs here the first 3 years after we bought it in '03. No greenhouse tho and they didn't even start flowering until mid-Aug so barely got going and would be dead by mid-Sept. The last try we had a killer frost with a light snow before the end of Aug so I gave up. Don't know why I haven't got around to trying autos before but I was too cheap and broke to buy seeds.

I might just do 4. 2 of each strain and if that works out finally apply to Hellth Canaduh to grow legally then do more next year. I have my med for 12g/day and the wife has 6 so we could do 24 outside on my ticket and 30 indoors on hers. Plus the 4 rec plants. That's plenty. Hopefully the doc will renew again in Oct. for us.

How's the mosquito crop coming in this year so far? Not bad here yet but I haven't been outside a lot yet. Were pretty bad in town when I went in on Sat.

hows your sealed room for co2 coming along? also i did finally come across a mini split that can indeed run at -38C, mitsubishi makes a p-series mini split thats ultra low ambient that can run to -20C there are addon kits that allow it to run in -40C. i finally finished work for this season so im off again and have time to work on my sealed room since my last update i completed all the framing and wiring. i have a dedicated 20 amp circuit for dehumidification and a separate 15amp circuit for just fans. im now working on getting the room completly insulated with vapour barrier and setting up a conduit for the cords from the panel for the ballasts and working out venting so i can change the co2/air in the room on lights out. also thinking im going to put the lights on there own vents and pull air from one part of the house to another so it doesnt interact with the humid air and do sealed air cooled lights for when the mini split cant run in the winter so i can hopefully still do co2 and run all the lights in the winter if temperatures permit.

another update finally getting some work done since the last update i finished installing all the r-12 insulation, vapour barrier and backing on the ceiling as well as all the mold resistant drywall im starting my second coat of plaster on the walls.

if anybody is curious the end objective here is to build a sealed room that is
a) sealed with co2 burning natural gas
b) completely insulated
c) sound proof
d) with the option of running the room not sealed with co2 and a/c off in the winter when the 2ton mini split a/c cant run.

the dimensions of the room are 9x9 i intend to run 4000 watts of light in this room
