Not enough light

I have a DWC set up, and am using CFL's for light.
I've come to realize (by reading other threads) that my lighting is woefully inadequate.
So I decided that I needed to more than double the power of my grow. I scraped together all I could afford, and bought an entry level 600W HPS lamp.

You should have bought an HPS light. MH is great for veg but not great for flower. HPS is good for veg and great for flower. If you can scrape together another $30 buy yourself a 600w HPS lamp and veg your plants with the MH and flower them with the HPS.

looks like its a duel ballast and will run both the mh and hps, a great option when on a budget, can you describe your grow area?

yea thats a great light for me ... but the hanging device SUCKS. i advise gettting after market ones. and it does create a bit of heat because it is a open hood.. the closed ones allow you to control temps better.

nice 600w is great for a eco grower $ whats the room look like

let me know how that setup works for ya. i run one 1000w and have thought of going to two 600w. phillipcristian is right.

You can use the cfl for side lighting too.

Thanks for your feedback, nice to know that my purchase wasn't a bad decision.

First - it is a HPS that I got, just a dual type ballast.

2nd - open hood, cheaper (by a long shot) than the cooled/vented set up, but I believe heat won't be an issue since the area I'm flowering in is rather cool, large and well ventillated. I'll probably use some Fullers Earth for odour controll.

Lolz - I have my (basement) grow split up into 3 areas.

Clones to rooted plants




Then I set them to veg for a while, in a closet. When my HPS comes, I'll double the wattage with more CFL's.



Then flowering, I'll have to move it to a slightly larger area, when the lamp arrives.




And I will be using some "Daylight" CFL's for supplemental lighting.

Thank you - I have no idea really. Found some seeds in 2 different batches of commercial weed, AK47 (supposedly) and something with an esoteric name, like Black Shortcake or whatever. I have no idea which is which, but the one plant I've harvested was pretty damm good. So I'm really looking forward to all the extra goodness that the HPS will add.

while ur using cfls..lay them sideways if u can..if not get a Y splitter..u cud of got about double the lumens u had with them vertical like tht
