Not so Mellow Yellow

Help! My poor plants are looking pretty sickly. Just after they were transplanted to the bigger pots, they were dosed with bat guano per directions on package (1T. per Gal.), then again a couple of weeks later with only watering in between. It seemed that after the second fertilizing, the leaves began getting yellow. No more guano. Since then I've tried adding new organic soil and used Superthrive three times. Any suggestions welcome.

Probebly to much fetilizer flush them through pull all the yellow leaves off.your trying to recuepreate your plants with more thing that are doing them more harm than good [overload]flush them with tap water.then leave them to dry out don't feed nothing for a while let them pull the goodness from the bat shyt.that is why i hate mixing nutes in with my soil unless i'm totaly in control after the flush you need to just give them water.and allways add less than it says on the box you can always add more but major problems if you over do it.good luck keep us posted

How long since you went 12/12, that yellowing is fairly normal for a lot of strains after a month of flowering.

Actually, I think that's (hopefully) it. I went 12/12 6 wks. ago. Guess I was just hoping for bigger buds . It's just that it seemed to go yellow big time just overnight it's pretty scary!

Bat Guano?

High in N...too late for that. You seem to have an N Defeciency, but that late in flower it's okay. Shouldn't have tried to fix it that late in the process.

Flush through with PHed clean water (avoid tap water if possible) and just let it finish out.

Next time you know that you may need more N if you grow that same strain earlier on. And not so much, burned the shit outta those things.

Its not good to transplant when a plant is that far into flower! Plus it wont really grow anymore, now that it is in flower so why did it need a new pot?

It doesn't mean the buds will stop growing, I've had grows where all the leaves yellowed and fell off but the buds kept growing.
Look at the trichomes to tell when it's ready.

They stop growing at maximum efficiency. Pure science, yellow leaves don't have as much chlorophyl, chlorophyl is needed for photosynthesis. Less photosynthesis = Less energy = less growth...can you say 6th grade science?

Why would you go out and pay for all the expensive equipment to grow your plants and then not want to do it to 100% max potential?

I know enough to keep my plants happy and healthy and produce strong, large buds. I'm not saying there's anything that should be done now, but I don't like new growers, running around telling other new growers that it's okay to have yellow/dead plants and they shouldn't try to correct it. The real answer is it's "common", not "okay", and it shouldn't be corrected late in flower, but if grown again it should be avoided.

To the OP: You'll be just fine, you just have to take from this and work a little harder earlier to not have these problems.

1. Don't transplant in flower.

2. If you grow that strain again make sure to give them some N boost in weeks 3/4 of flower to have enough to make it through to the end and maintain color.

Overall though, good looking grow for a first one.

Why are you calling me a new grower, I've been growing for 36 years.
Look at the my avatar, at 5 1/2 weeks nearly all the leaves have gone yellow and fallen off, but the buds didn't stop growing, they were double the size when I harvested. You just think you know it all. His plant will be fine and it's too late to do anything about it, sure, he could have loaded it up with nitrogen before hand, but he didn't. So why are you flaming me, how old are you?

I wasn't "flaming" you. I'm stating the point that it's not "okay". I stated that it was too late to anything at this point, but that lesson was learned for next time. That's a lot different than telling someone it's okay, don't worry about it. The don't worry about it part is all well and good, but the lesson was that this strain needed more N earlier on.

I'm sorry if I came off like I was attacking you, I was not. Just trying to help a new grower learn how to do it properly. Just because you've done it improperly for 36 years doesn't mean it's right. Your plants aren't stronger and healthier when they are harvested with their fan leaves? Mine are. Every other commercial grower knows are. It's good to strive for perfection.

Hopefully you did unsubsubscribe as your are worthless to this thread. I never flamed you, and you are overly sensitive obviously about your own ability to grow?

All I said, IF YOU REREAD the thread was that the plants would stop growing at maximum efficiency. You're right I shouldn't of assumed you were a new grower, I apologize for that, but you just took that and got all bent about it.

I've stated my points and you've added nothing (which this thread isn't about) to this thread or to assist the OP.

If you think you should have plants that look the way yours look in the picture on purpose and that it was done to max potential, you don't know what you're doing and you've done it less than efficiently for 36 years, yes.

You would think that after 36 years you would have at least tried seeing if you could keep your plants green and healthy and what that would look like.

Well, by golly, after some occasional Superthrive, I started getting some really nice, new, green growth at the top of my plants and now have some amazingly huge buds there. Problem is now, the bottom buds' tricombes, where the leave yellowed out, are ready now, but the tops are not...I'm planning to just wait until the top buds are ready. Will this hurt the bottom buds?

Regardless, I'm glad I didn't give up and am grateful for all of your suggestions. I guess I have now passed the sixth grade....

I think there are a few misconceptions here:

1. I'm a grrrl.

2. I transplanted just b/4 I put into flowering.

3. I fertilized w/bat guano (which adds high N) just after starting 12/12. This is when the fan leaves started turning yellow.

I didn't mean to start a feud here and I hope the two of you can end this.

I think at this point, I should perhaps split the difference between the bottom buds, which have dark hairs and amber tricombes, and the top buds, which still have white hairs and light tricombes. Does this sound reasonable?
