Not Sticky Not Smelly Has Lots of Resin glands

I am posting this for a friend who does not have access to a computer as she is dumbfounded as to what the problem is.

The strain is a form of Indica with lots of resin glands though the buds are very large and plump they are not sticky and there seems to be virtually no smell.

The plants came from a seed that was from some very good stuff. Atleast she is 95% sure.

There was one previous harvest of the strain in question though it had to be harvested early due to a mold problem. She thought at first it was harvested early but the new batch is past where the other was harvested early. You would get a buzz though not very strong and pretty much no taste.

Has anyone came across this before? Is it still immature and one day will become potent and smelly and sticky? It has been in the budding room there a long time from what I was told. Like a solid 8 weeks of budding.

Oh btw used a 3 part fertlizer to grow them formulated for that type of plant.
So she does not believe it has anything to do with fertlization.

HELP anyone have any ideas?

Wasn't sure where to post this as to her it seems to be a plant problem.

No smell during a grow would be a good thing...as long as the bud is quality.

And being that its a bagseed grow....who knows what strain/s produced the seeds she used. She should be happy that she actually has females. My bagseed produced nothing but he/shes.

Z, my last grow one of my (bagseed) plants had no smell at all (the other plant was a dank smelly little mofo). It also was not very sticky. When I harvested, all I could smell was hay. I was very worried it would be shit weed. I took a small dried but uncured sample and the high was weak and short. I took 1/2 and made hash and the other 1/2 I let cure for 5 weeks. I was very surprised by how improved the buds were after curing! They still don't have a smell but they will get you pretty fucked up.

Take my advice and go ahead and cure them for at least 4 weeks. You won't regret it.

You left out some info. If you are early than 6 weeks I wouldn't worry about it. Generally I don't get much smell until I get the stickiness which doesn't start until 5 1/2 - 6 weeks. That's when trichome development really starts and the flowers turn into buds. If you are still seeing mostly white hairs instead of actual buddage this is likely normal. I would say that if you are seeing lots of resin glands, it will get sticky and most likely smelly. Don't harvest early, use a fan to avoid mold and keep the humidity down.

Thanks for the info everyone. The plant has been budding for a solid 8 weeks has numerous trichomes on it since 4 weeks ago or so. Unfortunately she did not replace the fan that burnt up and now has a start of a mold problem like the last time. She is going pull them and save what she can like last time and maybe try some your ideas of curing them more properly.

Incidentaly the fan burnt up actually at a very good time when some other plants that was being grown from seed flowered and the males started to show (pollinate) just at that time the fan stop running the same day, talk about good luck.

What really sucks is she thought this stuff came from some budds that was some of the best she has ever smoked. Naturally thinking the plants grown from it would be killer also. So far it has not and it seems we are going to shut that strain down for good.

Good news is she has some good stuff from another strain that was very good and now just got to get rid of the spider mite problem that just also developed. Bought some insecticide for vegatables that is suppose to get rid of those pesky little bugs.

Wish her luck!!

Thanks again all

Eek. She needs to get a computer and get on rollitup. So far she's got males, she's got mold, she's got mites, she's got it all..........all wrong.

I'm sure with a little bit more advice and a little more info she can do much better. Shouldn't really be developing mold in a well ventilated humidity controlled room. Sad to see buds go to waste. If it doesn't smell, isn't sticky and isn't very potent, it's probably Big Bud. haha, I hate on that strain so much.

Actually the males was from 5 seeds that grew 4 of which were males and 1 female which is the strain in question. The mites were caught early enough as not much damage was done to the start ups.

As far as the mold there needs to be a fan in there. Do have also a dehumidifier running also to pull out all the moisture which is good for a couple reasons as the water is pretty much pure so no salts and other bad stuff. Kinda weird the one strain seems to have the tendency to get mold while a completely different strain with more "popcorn" like buds doesnt seem to at all.

Yeah, the first rule amongst mold spores is attack the largest cola first. :blsmoke:

As far as the potency of your strain goes, that seed came from a female bud that was exceptional, but the father is unknown. The pollen could have come from a hemp plant growing in a ditch nearby.

HTH

The cure how long dried ?

What about the hash..how did you make it? was it as strong as the cured ?

i would guess low light if not other obvious problems or maybe high humidity since you said it was a problem before or both
