Not too happy but the purple wreck has been chopped! 9wks flowering. pics inside.

So i chopped the purple wreck down. 9 wks flowering...only 2ft tall...its an indica from dna genetics.

my issues with this plant: too sensitive to nutes (or at least the fox farm nutes n soil im using). nearly every feeding it would show SOME sign of nute burn while my other mystery plant never had a similar issue from nutes ever.

the yield was poor. (especially in comparison to my other plant) but for a 600w hps (in flowering only...it was vegged w/ cfls (10 23w 2700k & 6500k spectrum for a month and a half). hps was from flowering day 1 and on. i guess i expected more out of this plant (and the hps especially w/ electric bill) but im going to guesstimate i have probably a half 2 possibly 3 quarter oz of bud dried at absolute BEST. and thats reaching i think.

i will be drying in the 3 step process of...
A) hang up in a closet w/ a fan that blows continuously (not directly on the buds...actually it blows less foot under them hanging)...trying to control humidity as much as possible....its been around 60-65...in the afternoons there isnt much i can do about it when there are low clouds and its unusually humid for this time of year. however in the evenings the H drops to about 50. so im working with what i can.

B) place in paper shopping bags...sealing it...opening it...shaking buds...etc. you know the drill.

and finally

C) storing in mason jars and burping them every so often.


the pics were taken minutes after the chop & a little trim (i will probably clean it up w/ a lite trim before placing them in the paper bags).

i have no idea. it was just a pain in the ass the ENTIRE grow. i swear every issue i could have had 2 deal with on that plant i did. nute issues...self-lst'd (not even kidding...i grew 2 ft up then layed it self down)...actually helped the buds develop by letting the light penetrate. idk what the issue is...i got it from dna genetics...whats funky is my mystery strain (started the SAME day...treated the EXACT same way....same size pot...same soil...same nutes...same everything) is MUCH bigger than this...its 3 ft tall and has a 13in main cola that is packed dense bud. in some pics it almost looks like a pineapple in shape (at least to me). very nice looking...thick tons of growth (no it didnt lst itself either haha)

but for some reason this wreck wasnt a strong growing plant. in comparison the mystery seed (found in some bud i bought like a year ago) in which the main trunk is VERY strong...the branches are strong...growth was rapid (up to 4inches a day) etc.

it wasnt terrible or anything...mostly just fan leaves suffered and only the tips...not like i had any leaves just destroyed from nute burn...90% of the time they came back to full health and turned green again.

it was just frustrating that it could handle grow big (for veg)...not at all...flowering nutes (tiger bloom) was no issue...it took to that well..

I don't know about "LST" itself, but fall over and then heal itself it did. You're lucky it mended and didnt die. From what it sounds like you got a bunk plant from the start in combination with the fact that your trunk broke part-way into the grow. I've had plants get damaged like that before and heal, but still not yield so low. If all other girls have fantastic response to your grow methods, than I would blame it on the individual plant.

well im only on my 2nd grow ever...w/ the mystery plant still flowering (week 9 now...its a sativa or sativa dom so im gonna give it a little while longer...maybe another week...or two at most) its the only other plant i grew at the same time with the same methods as i did the purple wreck...click that flickr link on the my first post...i just put a pic up of it. this was taken i think a week ago. ill let you guys tell me if i screwed up cuz i think that mystery strain looks great...especially after having it in my possession for like a year before i planted it...just so happened to be a girl.

the rest of the plants in that pics that you see are various other plants i have in an early stage of flowering...

Now I can be sure it was just the one plant. Although it isn't the biggest baddest cleanest set up, you do have your shit together.

some plants just arent as stong as others man. i have had the same problems. the strongest looking clones i bring home sometimes turn out to be my "retard" babies. take a lot longer to grow/just arent as healthy looking as others, eventhough i used same soil/lights/pots/neuts. and they are they same strain from the same mother..... it has to be stressed somehow, but idk how. i just give them a little TLC and vegg them a little longer than the others and they have been doin alright

thank you. i worked real hard on this setup. i got laid off work...so struggled to raise about $2K for expenses...and that was the cheap way...of course i did waste some along the way with the cfls and all that but i got an hps...(another will be on the way soon). 600w digital ballast greenhouse whatever company it was again. purchased from htgsupply. got an a/c (grow area didnt have central a/c) got the fox farm line of everything...bills have been expensive with electricity. seeds were kinda expensive...got kind of a break..

i cant even think of all the expenses right now off the top of my head.

i originally signed up here and just read and read and read and read and read as much as i could (for like 3months) and just tried to apply what i learned. im just glad i made it this point. i cant explain the euphoria i felt chopping down my own plant for the first time (been using marijuana for years but never grew or anything)...ive made hash oil (also for the first time)...smoking my own bud just seemed so amazing...haha.

but thanks i appreciate it...im learning as much as i can...next harvest (after i do the mystery strain in the next week or two) will be around probably the 2nd week of july or so...thats the plant you see in the background...big bang seeds. some of them are real monsters (nearing for 4ft during this last growth spurt during flowering)...im excited for that.

You don't have to think of the expenses off the top of your head.I already know dude. You think any of us long time growers instantly knew everything and had all the space and time and money to have our cake and eat it too? NO. Lots of us still have yet to even taste the cake, whether or not we baked it. My point is, growing pot is a VERY niche type thing that you have to put tons of energy into in order to get what you ultimately want out of it. Don't trip and fall because this harvest was not what you wanted. It only gets better.

update: my purple wreck has dried out and its 34.4 grams DRY! im sure it would have been more like 40-45 grams because i did take lots of samples and such haha...and all the buds on the main stem got used by me (since they would have basically been shake) and that wasnt added either...

im just saying i got 34.4 grams sitting right now dry in a jar!

im happy with that...cant wait to see what my mystery strain does as it appears it will double the purple wreck pretty easily
