I travel 30 miles to the grow shop and I take a route home that makes it impossible... if someone followed me I would know it for sure I watch for the shit.. Got paranoid on the last run and drove 30 miles north of my city LOL... They turned off on a different freeway exit.

I am back got the grow...

I am wondering what my target PPM should be and what my ratio should be...

that 9 6 3?
 
OK OK so here is what I did

I mixed 13 new gallons of RO water and mixed them with 40-20-10 g-m-b; ppm of that solution 200.. I added 10 ml of sugar daddy and root 66 because I transplanted them babys they are all in the ebb and grow now ppm after that 225. I eliminated 3 of the weak ones as mentioned before... I then fed them for 30 minutes let them sit an extra 15 minutes because of the transplant..
In additon I also mixed up 2.5 ml/500ml of Thrive Alive B1 Green and foliar sprayed them..

I now have 35 gallons in my res, 16 left when all the pots are full..

I tested the ppm/ph of the following.

Res full - PH 5.45 - PPM 285
Res half - PH 5.85 - PPM 285

Controller bucket - PH 5.85 - PPM 275

Top inch on the flood buckets - ppm 500-600 !!!!!!!:idea: - PH 6.15

So this leads me to beleave that the cubes still have a high concentration of nutes..

one last note... after I posted last I had a thought.... and acted on it LOL

I am so compulsive with this shit man LOL

Anyways because the PH and PPM was soooo high near the top of the buckets... My guess is from the runoff of the cubes... I took 3 additonal gallons of pure (no nutes ppm4) RO water and pretty much evenly divided it up and poured it over the rockwool cubes in hopes of flushing more nutes out of that shit and bringing the PH down...

I am wondering in addition to the normal feeding from the ebb and grow if each morning I should water the cubes slightly damp with some pure RO water... PH is like 4.90 on that stuff...

Thoughts...

I have a headache... My hands are all tore up, this is hard work for a network engineer....

Got some pics... They look really droopy, I did foliar feed them for the first time in a few days though and it was after I soaked the bottom 1/2 inch of the cubes for 25 minutes or so... and attempting to buffer the ph/cube LOL a half hour before the pics were took.

Some seem to be look better to me I dont know though. The next week will really make or break this grow....

Any thoughts? I know that they are recovering from being overfed but I thought the foliar and couple addatives would be beneficial considering the stress they had today/yesterday... Also notice I left out the h202 I believe the 66 is organics...

Yeah? I was thinking some of them were looking bigger and stronger little greener...

Funny thing when I took those little plants out of the room today they looked very green outside that room.

I still have to sex about 8-10 plants in there so some of those will be eliminated.. I am watching 2-3 closely and ready to eliminate them as well if they dont take off in the coming hours/days.

I thought about that with the cubes and I am affraid to f with it more. I will not be using these cubes again for this. I had a plan in the beginning due to budget and abuse it took longer to play out. Plus LOL I forgot to put hydroton in my tray LOL so with 20 plant in there it wasnt ideal.. that was supposed to be my motherplant tray... anyways thats phase II now..

Ok so check this out... I am a bit worried again today... I checked the res this morning after they had 2 feedings 6pm and 6 am and the ppm in the res was 350 now so its rising... from 250-285 yesterday. The ph was all the way up to 6.2 in the res... Does the organic stuff make it rise?

I tested the controller bucket.. PH 6.3 PPM 450.. This is the direct run off of the cubes...

Furthermore ALL the plants were SUPER perky this morning.... unlike droopy after foliar feeding them... However some of the older leaves look to be burning more... the tips spread out across like the first 5-7 jags on each side are wilting, yesllowing, curling... those are like 3 sets of leaves down... The next set now (on some only) have that wet tip look again and like some browning less than 2 mm.. The top set of leaves all look good except a couple have that severe claw thing going on.... Most if not all have 1 or 2 new sets growing in...

I am concerned that the nutes are still to high? Wondering if I should take additional action on this.. Adding more water to the res lowering the PPM... water the cubes again to try to leach out salts with RO water?....

i think what is happening is when your water evaporated it leaves the nutes behind therefor causing your PPMs to rise


also maybe its still too high too though


also you told me your doing many different strains right?


cuz each plants will have differnt feeding needs, some are heavy feeders and some are light


if you dont nute to plant that wants the least nutes you will burn it at the expense of feeding the one that is more hungry

maybe take it down to 250 PPM or even 200 ppm to play it safe and let everyone fully recover

i think also our PPM meters are lil different so like if my ppm meter reading my tank as 300 what if i grabbed your meter and tested the same water it might read it as 250

even if on my it says 300

I was foliar feeding them with a general nute 2 part GH spray at 200 PPM.. I STOPPED that on Thursday of last week and havent foliar sprayed them since... I completed the transplant so I foliar fed them ONCE only and dont plan on doing it again with Thrive Alive B1 Green the stuff with the iron post transplant last night....

I cant remember the conversion of mine,


but like my buddy even has the same ppm meter as me but his will show like 250 ppm when mine shows 300 ppm


probably due to bad calibration or maybe drift?
 
but anyway after seeing those pics its clear your problem manifested from the 800 PPM you had goin


I think you might have been misreading the colors of the leaves a lil as you said because of the lights in the room like a red cig lighter might look a differnet color under those lights

causing you to up the nutes too high when they didnt need it


looks like the mystery is solved:-P


This is based on the fact that im assuming your smallest plant is like 3" and your tallest plant is like 7"

right?:-P


I got that same exact thermometer and its 2" tall i think so I make my estimates from that:weed:

just sayin when i first started i used hydroton also, but its real messey and gets dirty and is hard to reuse.

so I replaced all my hydroton with Rockwool instead.

But i guess your trying to stay away from too much rockwool


also incase they didnt tell you its important to rinse the hydroton or all the dust in it might also mess up you water

I added back water into the res this afternoon I got the PPM back down to 250 ish...

I looked that the ladyes and they are STILL burning.. As I mentioned before the yellowing and burning is a little deeler on those 3rd set from the newest leaves... On about 50% of the plants... GRRR :cuss:
I guess I am gonna run more RO water over them cubes... I wanna stay away from the cleansing stuff for now I believe...

Most of the plants have new internodes though some gave 2 new ones since I foliar sprayed them last night... That shit is only 1-1-1 but I am wondering if that was a mistake because of the new yellowing and burning today..

Plants are like 4 - 8 inches now....

So yeah

I have seen that thermo in like every diarys pics... :mrgreen:

They are filled to about 2-3 inches from the top with hydroton.. The rockwool that way is 1/4-1/2 inch into the flood water during the floods...

so how is your system in the pics supposed to work?

The system I am using is called the Ebb and Grow made by CAP; Custom Automated Products.. It is a 55 gallon drum (res), and a controller bucket with float switches... Each pot has 2-2 gallon pots.. The top one has holes in it. Right now I have the system flooding twice a day 6-6. During the cycle the controller floods each set of buckets...

how tall you planing to grow the plants. I would check around to see if 2 gallon pots are big enough for what size plants. i usually heard it should be 5 gallon buckets but thats to grow large plants i guess.
