Hi guys,

I am having problems with this grow. this is my 2nd grow and never had major problems before this. I grow in perlite, flood drain system.
I started getting nute burn about 2 weeks into bloom (reasonably bad burn), however the ec was only at about 1.8 when this happened.
I have backed it off and flushed it for 2 days with RO water, before returning the nutes to 1.2 EC. they recovered when I was feeding them PHed RO water, but as soon as I put nutes in they have started to go yellow and burn again??!! I have done this twice now with the same resonse. am I returning to a too high ec, although 1.1 - 1.0 isnt very high at all?
I am using a balanced nute, with PK13-14 (1mm - L) superthrive, fulvic acid in the nutes..
Can anyone help.
I am certain its nute burn of some sort as they recover straight away when they had ROed water, however I cant return them to a nute solution as they keep burning straight away! Please help!!??

Everything half nutes?
Cos my nutes I am using less than half nutes which takes it to the 1.1 ec.
this is my delema.. should I stop the additives al together for the 1st week? or just put half additives as well?

If they're really bad, maybe you should give them a break and just let them put their energy into growing instead of constantly trying to heal themselves, I'm no expert, just my opinion. ;) good luck!

I'm not a hydro grower but shouldn't you be measuring ppm? Isn't it possible for a nutrient solution to have a very low EC and a very high ppm?

Hi,

As far as i know, the way that the ppm metres work is that they are ec pens that convert to ppm.
as there is not other easy way, other than to go to a lab to meassure ppm.

So you are using a balanced nute, then throwing that balance off with PK13-14. Try using the nute by itself for a while and see if that changes things. Please read Uncle Ben's, "The never ending abuse of phosphorus in flowering" article. It's on RIU somewhere, give it a search. I've never used additives and I've never had problems. I'm a fan of the KISS philosophy (Keep it simple, stupid) :)

My bad if this is true, I know they use ec to rate purified water and I always thought it seemed similar to ppm. Sorry I don't have more to offer there buddy. Maybe you could just switch to soil and not have to worry about this ec nonsense.:bigjoint:
