I've grown organic all my life as we raise livestock and have plenty of manure.

I like to keep it simple.

I have a worm bin and compost pile.

I simply mix compost and worm castings with a base soil. I add a few different meals lime feather and neem meal. Let it cool and good to go.

Now I just amend with compost and castings with a bit of manure compost.

I add a small handful of worm castings and a pinch of garden tone once a month.

Good stuff. I also like the "down to earth" brand all purpose.

Either one of these products will help go water only.

I've grown with synthetics and even hydro but always go back to organic.

Is this because of ease of grow or do u feel organic has more superipr flavors? Id like to pick ur brain come next season as i will need to amend my soil. Do you send ur soil in to a lab? Or youve been doing it so long u onow the ratios. I hear with organics u cant really overdue it as long as you have slower released.

I purchased my soil from sanctusry soils not sure if ud heard of it seems to be doing great thus far, they state i will need to feedd in month of being in soil. Sorry to thread jack do you have any experience with maxibloom in flowering for soil? Looking into that currently as its cheapest and i have alot of area to cover. You can pick my brain anytime and are welcome to pm me as well.

I don't send my soil to a lab. I would if building a garden in a new place.

I started in the vegetable garden with my parents from the time I could walk.

I raise a garden every year and my kids help.

If you start with a good base soil that is inert I don't see the need for a lab.

I use a product similar to promix for my base. Just peat and perlite.

I amend from there. I also use other products like bags of cheap local organic humus. Things like coconut husk or rice hulls for drainage and water retention.

It can be as simple or as complicated as you want.

working on that very same thing myself

just ran a close to organic run using fox farm some organic fert mix and tea

cooked my first batch of soil and vegging in it now
its going well

but im just learning the organic side so im not the guy to give advise

I also have soil cooking for the 1st time. I've always used ffof, so I'm gonna grow 4 plants in ff, 4 in my amended soil and 4 in a 50/50 mix. I recently switched to 100% organic for the lawn and garden and was rewarded seeing two baby praying mantis in a corner that is overgrown and almost got cleaned up. Now it is a nursery. When I took the picture I thought there was only one and did not see the other until I looked at the picture. One is near the center the other is above it to the left. The picture of the big one was taken last fall, maybe it's mom, I do see a resemblance . I have a 15 second video that is better taken on my I phone but can't figure out how to upload it.

Update:

So a week ago I gave it half a tsp of calmag and half a dose of Tiger Bloom. The problem doesn't seem to be getting any worse as of now, but I'll keep you updated. Do you think I should give it another dose of calmag in the future? If so, how long should I wait? It's already gotten 3 waterings since it's last feeding.

tiger bloom alone is not a good choice

its extrememly high in P
extremely low in everything else

you need to choose a well balance fertilizer tiger bloom alone is a bloom booster bot a well balance fertilizer, it ca be used to boost P in late bloom but its not meant to be used as a base fertilizer

if you tell me what your looking at I can help help figure out how to get a balanced mix.. which brand do you prefer or whatever
personally I think youd be best off to get the floragrow and floranova 8mls per gallon full strength
2 bottles... 1 for grow and one for bloom and that's it don't need calmag or Epsom salt just the two bottle and its all there and balanced ... no brainer

or get the maxi grow and maxi bloom and use it 50/50 mix 2grams each (4grams total) per gallon full strength

your only going to find trouble using the tiger bloom alone

id give it
8mls tiger bloom
8mls calmag
0.5 grams Epsom salt (1/8 gram)
per gallon evey other watering until you can get another fertilizer

which is hopefully soon

So my previous problem has subsided for the most part but now the plants leaves are rapidly becoming yellow (from the bottom up).

Is this just because I didn't feed it last week or is there something more at work here?

shes telling you shes hungry and showing N def
plus the tiger bloom is very low in N

just give them the floragrow nutes the way I said, itll give them the N the asking for
and the calcium and magnesiu levels are good for that mix...youll be stoked

Help? I havent been able to get this under control, and I dont know what else to do. I'm about to throw all of my nutes out, currently running Technaflora.
DTW coco, 1.4-1.7ec last couple weeks, but refilled yesterday to only 1.1ec. Same 2 strains on perpetual. Temps are pretty steady around the clock 75-81

Late stage, week 9, leaves still bendable, not dry, upper fans

This is early stage, week 3ish. Shes getting 5ml/gal calmag and 1/4tsp epsom salts last 2 weeks and its only gotten worse and spread

your at 9 weeks those plants are about completed id water just water for no more than another week and harvest

next time you grow them out mix your bloom nutes like this
full strength bloom
per gallon
8mls boost
4mls bloom
1ml awesome
1mls magical
1/4 tsp Epsom salt

full strength veg
per gallon
12mls boost
6mls grow
1/4 tsp Epsom salt

the technaflora stuff runs high in K and has a good amount of calcium

add that to the likelihood that your over feeding and you've got magnesium lockout

keep your EC down around 1.2 ish


also the techna flora mixing directions suck

for the bloom mix in the second half or late flower you can bump the awesome up to 2mls

8mls boost
4mls bloom
2mls awesome
1ml calmag
1/4 tsp epsom

Looking at pics in post#1, you fried her, That is no specific nutrient deficiency. Give clean water a few times to let her digest the nutrients she already has in the soil, then continue as you've been doing because she's a nice looking plant, but cut the fertilier strength down and/or stop any stupid additives. Stick to just a main nutrient balanced NPK diet. The damage to the leaves will be with her for life, so dont go by those damaged leaves after she's fixed.

Hey satori, what's with you and the CalMag.. LOL!! I've never used it! Never needed to with ANY system or medium in 20years. I dont get it. It aint a cure all. It just makes the herb taste like shit.
