nute burn or not?

I am on day day 85 since i started as seedlings. I am using flourecent tubes. I had serious nute burn problems earlier due to over use of Miracle grow. After flushing for my third time just an hour ago i am feeling better about the situation.

after adding a timer to my lights I changed it from 24/7 to 8/16 and just now on day 85 switched to 12/12. a week or so into 8/16 i began smelling a strong fragrance which is beyond words. awesome !!!!

One of the plants is not doing very well and although the other two have begun to grow very well considering they still have a minumum of four leaves each that our rusting and wilting.

I am very confused at this point whether or not i am dealing with nute burn still or the severe need for nutes and was wondering if anyone had any suggestions or advice. pics below.

where do i begin? why are you vegging so long? do you have a fan in there? how many watts is that in there? yea you probably have nute burn and alot of other crap wrong right now

ok i am new to the lingo here in the forums. For the first two months approx. i had the lights on 24 hours a day. My father inlaw advised me that it would be a good thing.

Approx. a month ago i set the timer up so that it was light 16 hours and dark 8 hours. I have it set so that it is dark during the day because i figured it is warmest during the day and since the closet is closed off from the furnace i figured it would be best.

Today i decided since the aroma was so strong to go ahead and set the timer for 12/12 light. I am not sure if that is the right way to go but since the aroma is so strong i figured i might as well. Not to mention i figured that 85 days was pretty long into it and these plants where beyond saving any further. If i am wrong about this please tell me.

I have flushed these plants three times as of today. every two or three weeks since i realized that i was burning them with miracle grow. like i said. two of them recovered quite abit.

yes, I do have a fan blowing on the flourescent light tubes. I have #4 40 watt ( Daylight 6500K 48" T12 ) Flourescent tubes and 2 15 watt tubes. also using a homemade charcoal scrubber in the closet of which i just installed today.

if your mg soil has time release ferts in it , flushing is the last thing you want to do , as you will be just releasing more ferts .

yea most people veg aka use a 24 hour or 16 hour light schedule for a month or until the plant is a foot tall. then you go twelve twelve where the plant can double or even triple in hieght. and you need a fan on the PLANTS not the lights... go to lowes and find the 250 to 400 watt metal halide and hook it up in there that will really help you definitely need more wattage

He is almost at 3 months and after flushing thrice, he might have gotten all the nutes out of there...the hard way, lol.

Definitely time to go to 12/12. You really need to upgrade your light. I don't know if HPS is in your future, but you should study the lighting threads and think about upgrading otherwise you aren't going to get much usable smoke.

Just FYI, nute burn turns the tips of the leaves brown and eventually the entire leaf goes brown, whereas a nute deficencity shows as turning the very bottom leaves a very light green before they die.

ya my father inlaw has a good heart but is a fricken idiot, god love him. right now my money is tight because of my medical issues. although i have found a MH 400w light that hung in a factory for 35 bucks. was considering that.

the only problem with that light is that it has the ballast and all in one unit which will make it hard to set up some sort of exhaust for the heat of the light. I have a overhead projector and attempted to use it once in the closet for approx. 3 hrs and it got upto 101 F in there. i can only imagine the heat from a 400 watt MH lamp.

is it even possible to flower and get any worth while bud with flourescents?

Sure, people do it. Look over in the lighting threads - there are some real florescent experts over there.

what is so confusing is..... some leaves have tips that turn brown and die and some leaves turn light green like you described.....

from your description i am looking at both nute burn and defeciency in the same plant.

I know that sounds ridiculous but hopefully you can imagine what i am seeing .

From what I understand Its the same thing. All your talking about is what caused it.

Your plants have too many nutrents either because they are not using the nutrents correctly ( PH off most likely ) or there is too many nutrents in the soulition/soil. Same results nute burn.

Some plants just react diffently. even clones all taken from the same mother can react differently to the amount of nutes as well as PH. I guess it has to do with the genes.

Live and learn... Gotta love that smell though.
