nute mixing question

I am going to use ffof, and tiger bloom and big bloom, but on the mixing chart, it all says mix with a gallon of water, so would it be ok if i mixed them with a gallon, and just let it sit, so i dont have to mix it again, or should i mix it everytime and convert all the units to a lower amount? (1 plant)

Hi, IMHO, It's OK to premix a gallon of nute solution but I'd keep it in a dark colored jug not clear, as well as a cool dark place and would shake it vigorously before each use. If you don't use it up in a month chuck it. Nutes are relatively cheap but will oxidize and degrade over time. Also I wouldn't use FF's full strength. Start out with a half strength mix and see how the plants like it. You can always make it stronger. The Mfg. mix chart recommendations are a little too strong in my opinion.
Also I wouldn't feed every watering if your growing in soil. You'll end up with nute burn because the nutrients built up in the soil. Feed in soil every other time or third time. Be sure to let the root zone dry half way out before watering again, you don't want to drown the roots either. Hope this is helpful, Happy Gardening! GrowIT!:weed:

actually i have 1 more question about the chart, when it starts using big bloom and tiger bloom in the same row, are those units already converted to be combined or do i have to figure out the proportions to be combined myself?

Hi It's my take that FF has already accounted for the combined mix. I always think of Big Bloom as more of a micro nute additive. It's a lot like Earth Juices Catalyst I think. Again though I'd dilute the recommended mixes a bit at first. Big Bloom though is the one true organic product they have and it's got such small percentages of N-Ph-Po that it would seem to be hard to over do Big Bloom even at recommended dosages. Experiment, you can't go too far wrong. Good Luck! GrowIT!:weed:

alright, ya i was gonna start out low at every other feeding and work my way up. So my last question is, i will be getting a clone that is already 8 inch's tall, and at that point i will be transfering it to ffof, but do you think that because it is already close to the point where i should start flowering it that i should flush it before flowering or only flush it before harvest?

Hi, I flush only a couple to 3 weeks before harvest to rinse out (so to speak) any extra nute taste. I only flush earlier than that if it looks like I over did it with the nutes and I need to literally rinse some of the nute salts out of the planting medium. (usually soils)
If I'm just starting to flower an 8" plant I usually still use a little Grow Big to maintain good leaf health along with all the bloom food... You can go without it but I find it makes everything a bit beefier and more hardy....thicker stems, more cell sugar (a sign of plant health you can measure with a Brix meter like grape growers use). Have Fun! GrowIT!:weed:

Keep in mind the Ocean Forest mix has a lot of good slow release nutrient in it already and so you could go 3 to 4 weeks in the planting mix alone with no extra nutes. After a month in the mix is when I'd add the little bit of Grow Big to the bloom solution, otherwise it's possible to over do the nitrogen right off the bat. I sometimes cut the Ocean Forest with milder potting soil when planting new starts in it as it can be pretty hot nitrogen wise (especially if the bags were sitting in the Sun and cooked a bit before you bought them). OK Good Luck!:weed:

You ought to do great with what nitrogen and other assorted nutes are in the FFof soil combined with your bloom nutes. Happy Gardening! GrowIT!
