what's the experienced growers opinion on this? Do I really need to use other nutrients besides grow micro bloom. is it a waste of money? are the results that great?
On my first grow i had 4 plants I got about a half pound from them dry weight, I used these big bud b52 bud candy and a few others. This grow I'm going to skip all these during my flowering period, is this recommended? I had some auto flowering seeds sitting around and just used the 3 main nutes and molasseses. it came out super dank and sticky.
Just wondering if the money is worth the high priced additives.

The money is not worth it. Especially when it comes to Advanced Nutrients.

All you need is a good grow and a good bloom. Dyna gro 2 part works perfect.

Now thats not saying all those additives are useless. Id use something like bud candy but thats about it. replace the rest with molasses.

I myself use a 3 part nute with cal-mag as an additive, along with molasses and occasionally a p-k booster for the beginning/ end of flower.

The only other thing i use besides that is Snow Storm Ultra. Its a K booster and PGR/PGH that really helps the density of buds and kinda helps the trich production.

So stick with a cheap quality brand like dyna-gro and shit will be alot easier. Not all additives are garbage. But alot of them do the same thing and are just rebottled and over priced. So sure using them wont "hurt" your plants (they could but thats if you over do it with them) but it will hurt your wallet and become an unnecessary use of money

Well I use Humboldt Organics, but the main thing I use is https://www.rollitup.org/organics/539844-subs-supersoil.html this eliminates anything during veg stage, and I top off with a fresh 3-4 inches with extra bone and fishmeal when I'm in flower and I barely use the bottled nutes anymore...it is an expensive mix, but IMHO it is well worth it...I just harvested 30 plants, OG #18 and got an average of 6 ounces per plant....and also I stopped using molasses because it attract bugs, and I mean aphids and fungus gnats and other harmfull bugs....lol...not to say the fish and bonemeal doesn't attract bugs but it's not as sweet and I can usually keep them under control with some Neem Oil waterings once a week...

I've grown for years in lots of different mediums experimenting all the way..

I can afford to, and wouldn't hesitate to get any product I honestly felt was going to give me superior results to what I am doing.

I use all purpose Miracle Grow or Jacks (or comparable) for veg, and their bloom versions well after into flower. Occasionally every few waters towards the end I will melt down a bit of epsom salt and a tiny small pinch of organic cane sugar to keep the soil happy, but that's it. (unless of course I am doing an organic run, that is another story).

Anyway, what I use is not as important as you not spending too much money on snake oil (not that some of it is not very good products, it is that they are just trumped up and appeal much more to the person than the plant).

Not to discount the value of a good product.. And there are many.. I am more out to discount so many of them that are NOT any better than their less expensive counterparts.

Your right, most 3 part nutrient lines come generally balanced and will do a good job on their own. Requirements for different plants are very subtle but there is a difference. In Cannabis its no different, what works well for one strain may have an issue with another. You have to remember these are chemicals, its not like amending soil. This is why there are differences in formulation. I would do your next crop with just the 3 part and see, you will probably need a calcium and/or magnesium additive and a carb like your mole asses. Your in soil or hydro? I don't recommend molasses to be used in hydro systems unless its a drain to waste. Do some research on the additives, you will see that there are many out there and quite a few duplicates. The additive games is a mess so researching each before you buy is recommended. JAS

I wish i had the space to brew up some super soil.
What I did was buy a cheapo shower curtain and 2 56 litre rubbermaid tubs, I reduced to recipe down as well as I could and filled one tub to the top, let it sit then split it 50/50 between the two tubs mix over the shower curtain super well so my house isn't a mess put it all back in one tub and put it back to sit again. It's right behind my computer chair and I can't smell any nasty dirt smells or anything. When I open the tote up it smells nice actually :)

All you need room for is like a 2 foot by 1 foot tub. Don't know how much you grow but 56 litres of soil is quite a bit :)

Damn my main concern was the smell because ive heard it gets stanky when it cooks. But in your house it probably does a low and slow cook since theyre used to being outside in the heat cooking.

Im gonna go for it soon! Would you be able to pm the recipe you used if youve got it dialed in? if not i can probably just take the original and tweak accordingly.

This is my first attempt :) I might have really messed this up, who knows. So I won't be sharing my recipe until I am sure it won't kill your shit :) If you google "subcools super soil small batches" on a different forum, might be here too probably is :)

I kinda "winged it" with this batch threw a bunch of shit in, think it should be good but as I haven't used it I don't want to get others in trouble :) This is not Subcools recipe I am using but something similar with products I could obtain locally.

If you don't mind the smell of fresh dirt then I don't think smell would be a problem, the only time smell would be an issue is if something has gone wrong.
