Nutrient build up on the roots. Dwc

Definitely looks like pythium. Usually caused by rez temps being too high without running any beneficial microbes to outcompete the pythium.
It may be possible to wash the roots with either h2o2 or pool shock to kill the pythium and then sterilize your system.
Sorry

Honestly it doesn't look like pythium. Doesn't look good either. Looks like a colony of some sort has established itself on the roots. Are you using any sort of beneficial bacteria?

Those nutes you use, do they look like that? Might be buildup from that. Not a great thing because it will suffocate the roots. If it was my plant I would try to wash off as much as I can without damaging roots and change nutes to something cleaner like GH Flora 3 Part.

Yeah those nutrients get real dark and slimy, I washed it all off cleaned my buckets and everything, I put them back in cal mag and hygrozyme for now. I was thinking about changing the nutrients to something more dwc friendly.. the ones I’m using now I have had great results but only in soil

Would you suggest like a whole line of gh flora 3, some cal mag and beneficial microbes? What exactly would you suggest I get?

I have used GH Flora 3 Part for about 30 years now and I love it. Micro, Grow, Bloom and add the Calimagic if using low PPM h2o. If you have hard (but not too hard) water you can get their hard water micro that has less calcium. Use the hydroguard with it. You can also add their Armor Si if you want, I grew just fine for over 20 years without it.

Always add and, mix before adding the next, in this order:

ArmorSi
Calimagic
Micro
Grow
Bloom

There are a LOT of recipies out there for use with GH. Mixes for coco, mixes for using only the Micro and Bloom (Lucas formula), just a lot of mixes. It is a very versatile product that can easily be dialed in for your grow. If you experience issues feel free to holler at me in a PM or tag me in a thread.

What is your water source and PPM?

The GH pH up and down buffers are good for growers that aren't mixing large batches of nutes. For large grows I use Advanced pH buffers because they are about 10x stronger so you might add like 3mL instead of 30. It is hard to use the Advanced buffers with small batches unless you pre-dilute it with some distilled h2o.

I have a RO filter. So I always have about 50 gallons of clean RO water.
The grow I’ll just use for vegg and the bloom only for flowering right?
thank you so much for taking the time to explain this!

I myself and others have had terrible luck with AN but it works for others. I felt it was over priced.

Their support staff was very friendly and helpful, they told me I was doing everything as they would have me do, RO h2o, PPM, mix procedure, feed cycle and amounts of water per site, when I told them what I was doing they said I was spot on.

I went back to the GH and haven't had any issues. Now that said, I wasn't testing the pH of the soil at that time. Still switching to the GH produced immediate results (happy plants) so I think the medium was ok.

Whatever you buy, don't buy 6 gallon jugs the first time, make sure you like it first lol.

Also how would you add the beneficial microbes? Do you mix the nutrients first and adjust ph of do you adjust ph after adding it?

You mix the grow and bloom at different ratios to get different NPK. So it's generally not just a bloom and veg bottle, keep in mind this nutrient line was designed in the 70's for NASA to use growing hydroponic crops, it wasn't designed for cannabis but rather to be versatile at growing many things, just tweak the ratios.

So an example I use for flowering:
(numbers are in mL for a 30 gallon mix, divide by 30 to get mL per gallon)
Si = 60
Calimagic = 150
Micro = 220
Grow = 200
Bloom = 250

Now the lucas formula uses just the Micro and Bloom mixed in a 1:2 ratio for the whole cycle. A tweaked version called h3ad formula is for coco and uses a little epsom salt if I recall...
