Hey All,
I just started flowering 2 plants for my first grow ever. They are about 5 weeks old, about 10 inches tall, and been FIM once so there pretty bushy. Would like to Veg longer but due to time/space constraints flowering must happen now and I think there mature enough to handle it(signs of alternating nodes and good thick stems). They've been under a 400w MH bulb until today when i switched to 400W HPS. Sound good so far?
Unfortunately RIU didn't come into my life until after I began growing and I made the rookie mistake of using MG potting soil. It's mixed about 50/50 with perlite. I know, I've since read all the reviews but what can i do? Fortunately they look very healthy and happy so far. Anyways, because i've been using the MG I've been hesitant to use any nutes so far. So i haven't feed them anything but water through the whole veg period. However, i'd like to start using some nutes in the flowering stages and wanted to get some opinions on when some experienced growers might begin using them given the MG soil. I currently have a bottle of Schultz Bloom Plus plant food that claims to produce "Big Beautiful Blooms for all Flowering and Fruiting Plants" Sounds good and everything but when looking a little closer it seems to me that it might be a little high on the phoshate. (10-54-10) I am aware that its highly recommended to start at around a 1/4 dose as to not shock the plant, but should I go looking for a new nute especially because its combined with the MG soil.
So I guess my questions are as follows:
Is it OK to feed nutes during the flowering period combined with the MG soil? and when to begin?
Anybody with experience with Schultz Bloom Plus PLant Food? (10-54-10)?
If not what should I go looking for? (i know people seem to like fox farm. anyone know the NPK % that I should be looking for)
Thanks to everyone who takes a look and can help out, and please excuse my rookie mistakes and if some of my terminology is off.
