Nutrients

Hows it goin everyone? Been a long time since i logged on. I was thinking of starting my second grow when i relocate to a different state later this year and for my first grow i had kept it very very basic;soil based, cfls, worm castings every now and then, and not really adding any nutrients. I got some alright results last time considering i had to pull it down early for certain unexpected reasons, but this next time i was hoping it pump it up a bit with some nutrients.

So the question being, what are some good nutrients(or fertilizer) to add to it when i start up? Im still pretty novice when it comes to growing so any links or tips id appreciate greatly, especially on the ammounts to add or when to begin adding it in and how to add it.

I appreciate all the help guys, this is by far my main info site to go to on all things herbal.

p.s.

sorry if yall get a ton of threads concerning this

dont give it nutes till its a month old. you want to find nutes with a high nitrogen ratio its a npk ratio you want two kinds one with the numbers that have a higher n and you get one that has a higher p and thats for blooming when you go into flowering. so after the plants are a month old you give it the Npk nutes then a week after its flowering you give it the nPk blooming nutes. when you give it to the plants for the first time give it at 1/4 strength the first couple times. then you can go to half strength. dont use miracle grow brand good luck

Hey foozay, go to your local hydro store and they will help you out. This is my first time using nutes. Currently using Advanced Nut. Connoisseur part A and B and my buds are kicking ass.

You can actually accomplish quite a bit with some raw, organic materials available at local nurseries, some at home depot/lowes, ... such as the earthworm castings you mentioned, which are great sources of nitrogen (veg phase requires a lot of N for vegetative growth). Blood meal or Fish Emulsion are other nitrogen rich sources that are very cheap. You could look into some bat guanos or bone meal for your flower phase, which are going to boost your phosphorus levels and be great feeds for your girls. A lot of these products lack Potassium & Cal-Mag, Carbs, & Beneficial Bacteria. You can go with some cheap sources for this stuff, such as epsom salts for MG, molasses for carbohydrates, ... or if you don't feel comfortable using so many raw materials and creating your own mixes for feeding, you can start with a premixed bottle solution that you can get from your hydro shop or on ebay (good prices on there), but that's completely up to you. Figure out what your goals are. If you wanna do this for fun, learn, and won't be disappointed regardless of your results, then there's no need to necessarily go all out. If you want to take this seriously, you might want to consider looking into atleast a couple bottled nutrients so that you can cover the whole nutrient spectrum, then add the others as supplemental feeds.

Just remember with feeding... MODERATION IS KEY! I also like to recommend newbies using calanders, and encourage doing the math on how to properly feed your girls. A lot of these labels will have instructions to feed so many MLs per Liter, or maybe so many cups per sq ft if it's a powder/pellet form. Figure out how much it'll be, jot it down in the calander. Create your progressive feeding schedule, and FOLLOW IT!

I feed once a week and just straight water once a week as well. Once a month I pass double the amount of water through the pots as well. It will depend on the size of your pots when you need to water/feed. Also start out at 1/4 strength and work your way up from there. Most nutes you can find charts to help you out on the net. Good luck!

Feed with every other watering throughout the grow starting at 5 wks old. Start at 1/4 strenght and move up to 1/2 strenght. Transition nuts at the first sign of flowering. Flush periodically; flush and stop nutes with 2 wks til chop.
