NZ 2014/15 Outdoor Questions & Your Journals :)

Compilation of Orient express sativa phenotypes.

Sorry for spam of pics but I'm sure you all don't mind

Earth Juice's Volcano bat and Sunleaves Mexican bat guano kicks ass!, so much better than that chemical crap!!. Some of the best vegetative and flowering performance I've seen on seed plants.

Orient Express is a beast of a breeding tool. Similar looking flowers to Malawi on some phenos.

Cheers guys,

pretty sure it's not a nute deficiency, all the other plants are fine and have had the same feeding. only 3 branches on the CC front plant. Pretty sure it's from the vine hoppers.

The plants should hold out to rain, it's only when there's no wind and the rain sets in hard for a week or more you've got to worry.
not much of a cyclone where I was, can already see blue skys and the weather looks to be mint from tomorrow onward.

I'm in a predicament harvesting cause I'm away for the roar for 10 days from 27th-6th and it looks like the seed plants will be finished off definitely by the 3rd.

Will chuck some more pics up later.
Change of subject but where are you going for the roar bro? I live around mt tarawera and only the farm deer are roaring atm. Wild stags normally start up on first frost but heard its abit different everywhere

Hey man,

I'm off down the ruahines on a secret little spot where no one goes. They roar a bit earlier and finish earlier in that area too. Hope it cools down by the end of next week. Last year it warmed up too much aafter the 28th.
Do you hunt tarawera much? Saw a nice 8 by rotomahana around Christmas.

Hey man hows it going? sorry for the late reply, haven't had access to internet for awhile.
Shit that purple Panama is crazy! wish you'd taken cuts off it. I bet it'd run mint inside too being so early compared to the rest of the Panama phenos. Yeah I've knocked off all N now and just feeding straight volcano bat guano from Earth Juice - it's bloody amazing!.
Been back to your plants lately? how much into flower are they?. Mine are quite far in now with only a few weeks max from harvest bar the CC.

The Confidor/neem application has knocked the hoppers back enough, not a full scale attack now. Some really interesting flowers on the BD13 X OE. Cotton Candy had a few little budrot spots from the rain but nothing to worrying, one or 2 tiny on the Black Domina G13 but that's cause it's in a spot that drys out later in the morning - absolutely none on the BD/OE plants, really impressed with the rot resistance.

Weathers been pretty normal for this time of year, some shit days and some excellent days, what's it been like down there?. much rain?.
Be interesting to see what this cyclone brings but shouldn't be too bad where I am.

How far into flower are your ones? seems to be normal flower time this year up here with really solid resinous buds which is the usual for mid march with indica/sativa hybrids. Fuck the volcano bat is tearing it up, absolutely boosted the plants in the last 3 weeks. Really impressed with this stuff. Have you noticed the soil is a lot better and more conditioned? the soil around the middle of the seed plot is real nice and silky.
Can't wait to see your next update.
Hey brother good thanks, algood awesome plants your well into things by the looks of it! I love the big tall sativa looking plants like Christmas trees  Man gonna be nice those will swell up nice and fat hah Also love the CC looks dank as fuck mine should be done mid april aswell if it holds out to rot how do your girls smell? Good thing you knocked the vine hoppers back, doesn't look like its affected your flowers? Hell yes bat guano kicks ass im killing it so far with the bat guano and potash and molasses im also brewing a few guano teas and using a local seaweed fertilizer that is packed full of trace elemnts and low in N and higher in P/K which is really really good stuff also got a air pump for making killer teas, should be phasing out N soon!

We started flowering quite late here all my plants aside from the panamas started flowering roughly on the 15 - 20th of feb lol We had really good February weather and even march has been better then usual weve had a real nice hammering of rain from that cyclone which is good, things are slowly creeping green again but still dry brown hills. The girls look much much happier after the rain. Man youve got some real fat buds by the looks of it :weed: Fuck yeah bro i fully agree bat guano is the way to go it really tears it up. Yea ive noticed the soil is really well condition particularly in the panama and CC holes the soil is very silcky and drain really well its much less clay like.

All my plants minus the panamas are about 4 and a half weeks in and one of the panamas is about 8 weeks in and the other is 7 weeks in. Im gonna have to pull the 8 week panama soon as ive noticed a few nanners but man im so surprised and how early and quick this thing has done and defiantly a more sativa leaning pheno of them all, smells like deep berrys and sort of sour grape with rock hard buds that are red inside if you open them up and purple on the outside :) Most of the hairs are brown im not surprised its putting out a few nanners, last ditch effort to get prego lol Anyway youl see how everythings going in this next update cheers mate.

Also I asked dubi for some info on the purple Panama phenos and this was his response:

Hi Letstrip,

There's more presence of Purple Panama phenos in latest Panama releases. In 2013 we did a big panama selection/reproduction using many different lines, some of my favourite parental plants from this new reproduction were green/purple, now it's easier to find this great pheno in the current Panama genepool.

Here are some pics of Purple Panama pheno, looks quite similar to yours. Best wishes for the rest of the flowering!

Update time!! All the pictures are from 19 - 20th of march
Starting with this girl!

Panama one untopped.

8 - 9 weeks into flower, smells amazing with really dense buds probably gonna have to pull her next week because of nanners and shes dying back a bit now. Truly amazing genetics and no rot, id say very close to the original Panama Red.

SDC14072.JPG

Runty small Panama 2 topped by rabbits

Smells basically the same but has slightly bigger buds that are even denser but a little more leafy ive noticed the hairs on these plants are very very green as apposed to the hybrid indicas this pheno also has wider leaves then the above which has very tight sativa leaves.

Those are some really nice looking plants man, feels amazing to see the fruits of labour!

a few questions:
how much did the seeds cost?
would the strain do well in auckland climate?
where do u get "potash"?
does the plant have to be started from clone to get to a big size or is starting from seed fine?

Update continuted! Sorry for all the spam but its the best kind of spam... pictures of weed!! Pictures from last Thursday.

Cotton Candy - This thing has gone crazy the heads are huge and sticky at only 4 weeks... I was wrong about this i thought i ended up with a rubbish pheno but seems like I just couldn't get her dialed in, especially being quite a fussy indoor strain but now ive got her sweating resin and all dialed in! Smells very hazey and stinky and the buds are seriously rock hard already, very impressed just gotta watch out for mold now  The leaves are all funny directions coz the plant was half fallen over it just cant support the weight of the buds ive had to tie her up lol Also has some pink hairs so its some sort of pink pheno.

IMG_5136.JPG

IMG_5175.JPG

Panama DC - By far the most well dialed in plant I have, shes the least furtherest into flower along with the Taskenti. Just over all looks really good and smells like old school skunk :) So far so good the flowers to big yet.

SDC14028.JPG

SDC14027.JPG

LSD - Very nice flowers starting to form very very kushy leaves and very indica, defiantly a Mazar pheno I doubt this thing has much skunk in it lol Smells delicate but hashy

IMG_5150.JPG

SDC14054.JPG

SDC14044.JPG

And last but not least the Taskenti Beast - Looking good I can just see the resin starting to push out and it smells hashy, lets hope she holds out to rot! Someone could easily pull a pound of this its 8ft topped lol It would be 12ft untopped easy...

Well that's it from me I hope you all enjoy the pictures, once again sorry for all the pics but im sure you all dont mind :) Cheers

About 10 Euros a seed feminized man. It would go great in an Auckland climate being warm and all that, crazykiwi grew it last season up that way. Just get potash from your local garden store the tui one its good its like NPK 0.0.40 plus sulfer which is good for finishing plants and yea mate either one is fine starting from seed means you can probably put it out earlier

You're welcome Letstrip. I really admire your girls. I will take some shots of my ladies tomorrow with the digital camera to share with you as well. They're just over 6ft untopped. They started flowering at the beginning of February so I think they'll be ready by around the 20th of April, some may go later. They're definitely not as Indica dom as some of your ladies are. One of my girls has the pink hairs you mentioned your cotton candy having. I am not sure about the strains of mine, because they are all bagseed. But I will try get a decent photo of the one with pink hairs because it looks gorgeous!!

I fed my ladies a decent amount of Potash at the start of february and towards the end of February. I will probably do one more feed of Potash tomorrow and leave it at that for the rest of the grow. Here's to hoping we all make it to harvest with no bud rot whatsoever!! :)

One of the girls in this plot has a bit of Purple showing through in her buds. Here's a picture which illustrates that nicely....

And here is a good reason not to use Bag seed when growing. I was really guttered to find these girls had turned hermaphrodite... But I can't say I wasn't expecting some of them to turn because of the fact they all came from bags of weed... I found 4 hermies out of the 12 plants in this plot today. Really not looking forward to ripping out more when I visit the other plots. :-/ In my opinion, most of the harm is probably already done because a few of the pollen sacks had opened before I got a chance to rip the herms out.

Hey guys, the news is a bit mixed again today. Had another small patch found and ripped, these guys came prepared with a massive carpet to throw over the blackberries that were surrounding them. Thing mustve been at least 80-90kgs. Some pretty nice plants taken, few Os gone... uggggh. They left some small minis that I had planted later and were only 2-3 weeks into flower, 10-15cms. I left them too and am not holding out hope for these, thieves cant help themselves. I have a few other minis in the area that are up the hill(thieves are also lazy), these will have to survive hungry sheep and cows o_O

Good news at my last main patch. Still there and lookin healthy...

DSC01796.JPG DSC01797.JPG

With the recent rain we've been having and a bit of budrot starting it was all the excuse I needed to get my "outdoor hang" setup and get something to smoke.

DSC01800.JPG

Ratios so far
Budrot:Trim:Buds

DSC01798.JPG

This is my first outdoor hang and Im not too confident so Im doing a small test while the weather is moist. Ill leave this here for 7-14 days before going back to check/cut more. When its "dry" enough and the weight/smell have decreased Ill cut all stalks off (further decreasing weight) and seal up in my airtight blue container, tape it shut and bring it home. Well thats the plan...

DSC01801.JPG

Hopefully I can leave them another 2-3weeks till harvest. Looking forward to seeing some harvest pics!

Peace.
