Nz Kiwi Outdoor Bush 2022/23

I used to do outdoors in BOP. Would germinate seeds start of September and would throw them outside after the first few sets of leaves, they wouldn't flower on me if you put them outside quick to acclimatize. With clones I wouldn't put em out until mid-late November otherwise they'd flower on me early.
Wow this sounds really interesting i might throw a few out earlier then planned just to see what they do, i wont be doing any clones.

Nice, what have your ordered? You might get away with an indica or autos down there but likely too cold as you said. That's a hell of a contrast to the BOP
Yeah we get a real late summer down here sometimes it's still cold in January. Just got a 5 pack of sugar Candy from delicious seeds, that was by far the best strain I ever grew it was bulletproof to mold and the most potent, hopefully I can find that same keep from 5 seeds haha

Yeah man end of September onwards just don't have them inside on 18/6 then put them out, once they've got their first 2 or 3 sets of leaves just leave them outside. The earlier you get them out the more roots that develop will save their ass come January/February when it's dry.

Hugely different in latitude! Fuck yeah, delicious seeds is awesome. I remember doing their cotton candy outdoors that year we grew together. That thing ended up soooo frosty and dense. Smelt grape/candy/bubblegumy! Plus hella potent. Sugar candy looks fn nice too. Wonder if id get away with putting my plants out earlier too. Everyone says labor day because of frosts etc but if theirs no chance of it flowering early then it might be ok? Might start them late/early October if they arrive. Could always pop up to the spot and put a frost cover on if worst comes to worst but like you said, i like the idea of getting big roots early.

Yeah I went from 37 to 46 in latitude shit yeah any of their strains with caramelo in it is real good, I only found cotton candy to be slightly mold prone when compared to sugar Candy which never once got a spot of mold. Yeah I reckon get them put October and let their roots develop, as long as you're not getting into the negative temps should be sweet.

Hey guys nothing to exciting just a pile of dirt mixed with some cheap fert.
9 cups blood and bone
9 cups dolomite lime
1 1/2 cups nitrophoska
18 cups sheep chkn poop
Still need to put a 40 litre bag of compost 10 litre worm casting, some fencing Not looking forward to carrying that in :/
This is patch number uno.
Will put 5 girls in there.
May extend the patch to about 6 or 7 dont know yet work in progress :) . Any advice would be great i put sticks in the ground if you can see them thats where i plan to put the girls. The ground seems pretty good, a few wrigglers squirming around in there. Grounds about 40 cm deep all around not sure if i should go deeper but its pretty hard digging through clay. Need to save my back for carrying water :P.

I like the sound of that. I have a bunch of feminized seeds I made a whole ago which was last years harvest should probably put them down now as well then.

Why dolomite lime?, was the pH low?

Why dolomite lime?, was the pH low?
Dolomitic lime is derived from deposits of calcium carbonate combined with magnesium carbonate and contains much higher levels of magnesium

i mainly use it for the purpose of high calcium and magnesium content, which is good for plant structure stronger and bigger stems. In my opinion its like calmag for outdoor plants probably could use it indoors as well haven’t tried. Haven’t tested the ph of the soil should probably go buy a test kit:p Im using black magic seed raising mix which is acidic i think its mainly peat moss. So that will bring the ph back down a bit, Also alot of liquid ferts can be acidic so i could add those bring down the ph. And theres plenty of amendments to bring ph down. Yea i actually never really thought about that until you mentioned it haha thanks mate need to look into that more:)

Do you use a full cage with a roof or just a perimeter fence. Possums are a major problem where I am so I have used full cages for the last few years. You can get a 50m roll of chicken wire from bunnings for about $80 only problem is possums can still reach through a little bit but it only weighs 12kg so easy as to bring in. This year I am investing in poison to see if it's better and do a few patches without cages.

What type of poison? You won't be able to get anything strong enough to kill them instantly without a poison license.

Plastic rolls of netting work well just need to peg them in around the bottom then tie the top of it off to near by tree branches keeping everything taught the possums have no chance of getting through.

Failing that plant in the tightest patch of gorse you can find and don't leave tracks, possums won't go through gorse if there's no way through for them.

Yeah the cotton candy had some mold issues but i found it finished really quickly which meant it could avoid the worst of the weather. Sugar candy looks bomb! Shouldn't be in negative temps but you just never know. Willing to take the risk :D

Its good stuff outdoors! Probably wouldn't bother testing the soil outside, she'll be right. But if you wanted to get niche then do it. Are you growing in native bush? It tends to be slightly acidic i believe. I went out to dig some holes today, dug them 1x1 m and about 30 - 40/50cm deep per plant. Its primo free draining nutrient rich alluvial soil, id say it has a decent amount of silica in it which is good for strong branching but man, digging and cutting out blackberry roots is hardcore. Not a single stone in sight! Big contrast from my 14/15 grow which was beyond stoney (pun intended) :bigjoint:

Was planing on just getting the basic poison from farmlands I think it's pestoff. I plan on setting up a perimeter of stations just to get the numbers down. Done trapping in the past and gotten a fair few over the years but with only a few traps and many patches looking for another solution. I've used plastic netting in the past but it was shit quality and the possums ripped through it. Where do you get yours from and what brand?

Cannabis plants only need a small amount of Ca and Mg. There is most likely enough already in the soil before you added anything and all those other ferts you added already contain heaps of Ca and Mg.

Im using $9 bird netting from warehouse not sure how to set it up i will know when i go out there next. Yea normally use chicken wire but will try this bird netting.

Yea I’m in native bush i bought a tester just in case, trying to make the most of the season while its here. Not easy doing all that hard work, I laugh when people say its easy to grow weed, i think its simple but it’s definitely not easy.
Awesome mahi mate!

I don't know how to test the soil for calcium magnesium content only that dolomite lime contains calcium magnesium.
I don’t know how much calcium and magnesium a cannabis plant needs only that it needs it.
I don’t know that the other fertilisers i used contained heaps of calcium and magnesium i know i was using them for other nutrients.
I don’t know how to take the dolomite lime back out of the soil, ill probably still use the rest of it because i paid for it don’t like to waste things.
I don’t know much still learning.
So i have to ask should i be using dolomite lime?
Of the fertilisers i used nitrophoska, blood and bone sheep chkn shit which has high amounts of magnesium and calcium?
Im guessing blood and bone there would be decent amount of calcium in there.
Also am i using to much fertiliser?
What fertilisers should i be using in native bush?
Any advice would be great mate :)

Here's what I'll be using for the recod:

- A little bit of dolmite lime for Ca and Mg. Mg helps with the absorption of phosphorous

- Seacliff organics shed blend powdered for veg NPK 3.5/3.7/1.9 + 2.6 Sulfur + an abundance of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and natural growth hormones.

- Humate. Good source of carbon to facilitate nutrient uptake

- Perlite and vermiculite 50/50.

- Grow all compost and worm castings. X1 bag per plant.

- Mushroom compost 1/2 half bag per plant

- Native Mychorizal fungi.

This should start it and keep it self sufficient for awhile

Later in veg during watering

- Nitrosol NPK 6 - 1 - 3 .

- Seacliff microbe pro.

Flowering:

- Guano super bloom liquid fert NPK 1 - 9 - 1

- Seacliff Pottasium silicate water soluble 0 - 0 - 32 (low amounts as it's strong)

- Fermented comfrey

Fermented Comfrey Extract is a microbial powerhouse rich in potassium, calcium, vitamins, trace elements, and amino acids, along with powerful enzymes.

Alternativrly, if you don't want to liquid feed then seacliff bloom dry mix is bomb!

NPK 1.6/9.5/5.1 + 3.9 Sulfur + trace elements
Sulfer is fairly high because it heavily influences photosynthesis.

Some might say this is an expensive approach BUT the way I see it is of you want good quality outdoors you need to put the effort in. A little bit of investment here goes a long way in terms of quality and yield and I want to be smoking the best possible stuff

Cheers all
