I don't know how to test the soil for calcium magnesium content only that dolomite lime contains calcium magnesium.
I don’t know how much calcium and magnesium a cannabis plant needs only that it needs it.
I don’t know that the other fertilisers i used contained heaps of calcium and magnesium i know i was using them for other nutrients.
I don’t know how to take the dolomite lime back out of the soil, ill probably still use the rest of it because i paid for it don’t like to waste things.
I don’t know much still learning.
So i have to ask should i be using dolomite lime?
Of the fertilisers i used nitrophoska, blood and bone sheep chkn shit which has high amounts of magnesium and calcium?
Im guessing blood and bone there would be decent amount of calcium in there.
Also am i using to much fertiliser?
What fertilisers should i be using in native bush?
Any advice would be great mate :)
Don't worry about the dolmite, it'll be fine. If you're worried just dilute the soil more with some surrounding soil. Also depends if you wanna go full organic or go sythetic. I plan to make a living soil with symbiosis :blsmoke:

No. If you are growing in the bush or in any decent ground soil you don't need dolomite lime.

It's not just one or two ingredients, it's the accumulation of all those ferts that contain Ca and Mg plus the amount added to the soil. But yes blood & bone contains a large amount of Ca.

Also am i using to much fertiliser?
Way too much.

What fertilisers should i be using in native bush?
No real answer to that question, everyones different, I prefer organic amendments.

Well, my seeds from Attitude have arrived and it only took 18 days from the day it got sent  So it's official, ill be running LSD, DoSiDos #33, purple punch auto, and gorilla glue auto. I also have two of the freebie options of Blue dream, Berry OG kush, Girl Scout Cookies or Midnight kush fem. Wasnt even meant to get the girl scout cookies or midnight kush but the legend i was dealing with said shed chuck in a couple of extras for me as i didn't quite make the bank transfer freebies (you get even more extra free seeds for doing a bank transfer). Was a bit nervous about the bank transfer but it was a piece of cake with online banking they had received my money within 12 hours and the next day it was sent. Didn't go with herbies as i keep seeing stories of packs being seized because of the crappy free grinders they're giving away. The stealth with attitude was good

Very tempted to run the GSC but i don't know if it will finish.... GSC vs Blue Dream vs Berry OG kush vs Midnight Kush, thoughts guys? Two indica doms vs two sativa doms

Here's what I'll be using for the recod:

- A little bit of dolmite lime for Ca and Mg. Mg helps with the absorption of phosphorous

- Seacliff organics shed blend powdered for veg NPK 3.5/3.7/1.9 + 2.6 Sulfur + an abundance of minerals, vitamins, enzymes and natural growth hormones.

- Humate. Good source of carbon to facilitate nutrient uptake

- Perlite and vermiculite 50/50.

- Grow all compost and worm castings. X1 bag per plant.

- Mushroom compost 1/2 half bag per plant

- Native Mychorizal fungi.

This should start it and keep it self sufficient for awhile

Later in veg during watering

- Nitrosol NPK 6 - 1 - 3 .

- Seacliff microbe pro.

Flowering:

- Guano super bloom liquid fert NPK 1 - 9 - 1

- Seacliff Pottasium silicate water soluble 0 - 0 - 32 (low amounts as it's strong)

- Fermented comfrey

Fermented Comfrey Extract is a microbial powerhouse rich in potassium, calcium, vitamins, trace elements, and amino acids, along with powerful enzymes.

Alternativrly, if you don't want to liquid feed then seacliff bloom dry mix is bomb!

NPK 1.6/9.5/5.1 + 3.9 Sulfur + trace elements
Sulfer is fairly high because it heavily influences photosynthesis.

Some might say this is an expensive approach BUT the way I see it is of you want good quality outdoors you need to put the effort in. A little bit of investment here goes a long way in terms of quality and yield and I want to be smoking the best possible stuff

Cheers all
Thanks for this i have been wondering about sea cliff organics theres a-lot on there hard to know where to start. I might try there worm castings and the clover seeds for a cover crop.

Thank you mate, thats my first patch and i guess you could say its a bit overloaded with fert. So i made it bigger now it can house ten plants. I just dug another spot up for 5 plants. So i think im gonna drop my fert down to just the chkn sheep manure and the nitrophoska and ill save the blood and bone for my veges what do you think?

Sea Cliff is the best organics company in nz for powdered and organic soil mixes, they make holistic mixes. Many synthetics are missing amino acids and other stuff important stuff. Plus they take after pay Never tried their worm castings but they'll be good. I've been using lupins as a cover crop this year and am not far from cutting them down to mulch into the ground. Free atmospheric nitrogen from those little nitrogen fixing bacteria on the roots, can't complain! Clover does the same

Im using $9 bird netting from warehouse not sure how to set it up i will know when i go out there next. Yea normally use chicken wire but will try this bird netting.
Just a heads up bro that's the stuff I used thar the possums tore through quite easily. If you can maybe chuck a possum trap on the outside of it.

It's an improvement, and I'm sure your veges will appreciate the blood & bone. ;)

Yea i just bought their clover seed, neem seed meal, worm castings and i got some amino acids for a foliar spray hope it goes well xD

Yea theres lots of possums where i am got some fencing instead from trademe it was $80 for 30m its cross fencing with 2.5cmx2.5cm spacing which is the biggest i could find besides sheep fencing but that was hella expensive like $300 hopefully will be good to train the plants as well, plan to stretch them out into little bushes. I have been watching john from growing your greens on youtube great resource and thats kinda why i have opted for the fencing i might use the bird netting as a trellis just cut the holes bigger with some scisssors. See how it goes will have some photos up hopefully end of this month.

Time will tell i will do a comparison of the different spots and see which one performs the best. My last spot i have gone full organic and grabbed a 4-4-4 and 2-8-4 from herbies which i will use with compost ,worm castings and perlite

A little update on where im at just a few seedlings popping up have about 22 little boys and girls. Hopefully just girls but im sure there will be some boys in there:(. Bit disappointed with the germination rate, just under 30% using paper towel method you get what you pay for i guess. I popped about 180 seeds and 54 managed to germinate which is the worse rate i have ever had. Still waiting for some to germinate but its been nearly 3 weeks so don’t think anymore will be coming through. Some seedlings are nearly 3 weeks old and a few are nearly 2 weeks old, growing pretty slow but the weather has been fairly cold its just starting to warm up now. Thats me plots are all prepared just need to put up the fencing but that wont happen for awhile until the plants are sexed. Hope everyones season is going better then mine lol.
Happy growing everyone :bigjoint:

Unless there is a lack of organic matter in the soil which is unlikely growing in the bush, you won't need compost or perlite. And there are already worms in the soil producing worm castings. But you've got it now so might as well throw it in. I could have saved you some money there.

Always start with good genetics. Those $1 seeds are from Mathhead, right? He's got pics on the TM forum of plants grown from the same seeds and the plants are in flowering and look really, really small.

That is quite a bad rate, but not surprising given the cost. Low germination rates are indicative of old seeds, I tried popping some old ones that were laying around, not to grow, just to experiment and not a single one germinated out of 100s. Don't even start me on the weather ...... :???: Once you get some good genetics you'll notice the difference in not only germination rate, but growth

Hey guys just a bit of an update on where I'm at. Been a busy few weeks but I have managed to get my 2 main patches sorted with a few renovations done. This year to prepare the soil I used a mixture of gypsum, sheep and chicken pellets and blood and bone. For protection from possums and deer one patch is completely caged off where as the other one is just fenced to 1.8m high and will use traps once possums become an issue. Clones were taken a few weeks ago and will be ready for transplanting at the start of November which should give me 3 months of quality veg before they switch to flower. I have them currently on a 16/8 light schedule to make the adjustment outside easier for them.
