A wee update on the ladies. This is the girls at 2 weeks and 2 days old, sun only and no lights. All in all looking healthy and starting to wind up. The purple punch auto is at 3 weeks but originally got a bit behind due to a couple of hiccups but is back on track now

Well, the ladies are in except the LSD... So that'll go in next week, somehow forgot it.. Anyway it's been rainy and humid with a little sun, good overnight temps. Weathers looking good next week though so that should get them going. They went in looking really healthy too with nice root systems. They outgrew the pots quickly so next time ill start them in larger pots! The auto is also in and looking alright so far and growth is picking up and seems to handle feeding really well. Have been trying out a liquid blend of humic & fulvic acids and they seem to be increasing the vigour of the plants - A good organic option. Supplemented the soil with seacliff shed blend and mycorrhizal fungi + had added compost, perlite and worm castings a couple of weeks back.

Hey Fellow kiwis
Thought id slap up a post seen as it’s gone a bit quite- everyone must be flat tack digging,carting and watching the weather forecast like a hawk.
Have done a few tent grows with reasonable success but going for a simple approach this outdoor season.
Plots got prepped start October- 1mx1m holes and 300mm deep with sheep manure and around 8L potting mix per hole great soil already in most holes so happy with that.
I ran the gauntlet and put 20 clones out on 1st November and will do the same around 20th November be interesting to see what happens given the weather had around here as of late. The ones in the ground got dolomite,bit blood and bone, water crystals bottom of hole, neem granules. The plan is too not visit much but if there isn’t much rain happening over summer then that plan may change. Be interesting to see what happens but more so if clones will try flower and reveg. Temps have been pretty good as of late with one night getting down too 9c followed by a 23c day. I didn’t cage them because there isn’t possums or deer in the area(I hunt this area a fair bit) and Murphy law walking out I saw a possum so will go back and cage when work allows. By the end I reckon everything would’ve cost around $800 and 8-9hours of my time so will see what happens. Has anyone had possums in the area that didn’t touch plants? Think I’m living in la la land thinking I could get away with it though. Will put up a few pics next visit

I had a possum last season try to get into one of my cages, I had unintentionally left a very small opening while half ass building a cage for one of my plants. The possum tore a bigger hole in the opening and it almost succeeded in getting in.

If there are possums in the area I would cage up the plants.

Cheers Phillybonker- will have to get onto it sooner rather than later if the bugger hasn’t helped themselves already

Hey man ive had a fair bit of experience with possums over the years and generally they don't notice your plants until they get a bit bigger or flower. Out of my 3 cages last year the possums hit 2 of them but on the 3rd one there was possum shit all around the cage but never touched the plants that stuck through 2 years in a row. I'm trying poison this year but normally a trap or 2 around the cage is all you need

Hi all,

Everything seems to be going well, had some stretch going on since planting but that seems to happen every year as they adjust to the conditions and come right. Growth will pick up as the season progresses. Gave them a feed today - Microbe pro, humid/fulvic acid, molasses and nitrosol. The LSD is the stand out so far, but it did get an extra 6 days at home before going in. Even still, it was always ahead of the others! I'm generally ahead size wise this year as opposed to other year's so yeah here's hoping with the warmer soil temps and warmer days well start to see some good growth as the season comences. Getting down to 7 degrees at night still but - 18 - 24 during the day and quite humid. I always worry they're not growing much at this time but they always come right and grow like nutts ;) Looking forward to seeing how yahs get on, cheers

Cheers Skunky I was hoping that was going to be the case thanks. Will cage after this rain coming and check on them.
What’s the earliest others have put clones out without them trying to flower? 13.5hr sunlight days where I am but they probably don’t see direct sun for an hour I’d say but have sun right till dusk

Cheers, it can be helpful though once they get bigger and the soil starts to cook. I like to get some plant matter around the base to trap in valuable moisture after watering them and slow the need to water as frequently. Grass clippings work quite well to trap moisture, you'd be amazed how much longer it will stay damp underneath.

It can also look really obvious with open bare soil until they get bigger so I figured it may help it look more natural from the air - Thinking about it now, it probably doesn't lol Definitely helps with moisture retention though, so each time I go I'll add to it. The cages are also just a basic plastic 0.5m.. I don't know what the possums are like here but it's surrounded by blackberry so should be ok... Hopefully. Was just thinking about rabbits, they can also be an issue from time to time

Hey guys been a bit slack but here's an update. Mothers and clones went in mid November and are doing well. For the soil I've turned it over to approximately 50cm deep and fertilized with gypsum, blood and bone, sheep and chicken pellets and some slow release general fertilizer. I've found using this technique in the past I've never had to water throughout the whole grow but this is also due to being in the middle of the bush as well.

First off we have the caramelo early this is the only mother to go into pre-flower and boasts a 45 day flowering time so will be interesting to see if it revegs.

I have given away the Mimosa x orange punch and grandmommy purple to a mate but have clones of them in this patch I will update further when I next go out. If you are wondering why the plants are wet it's because they have just been given a spray of nature's way for insect control.

Update time it has been one week since I gave all the plants a bug spray and most of the vine hoppers have gone. Last time I went out and noticed a little bit of possum damage basically destroyed 2 plants so I have trapped the perimeter with the standard leg hold traps and do not expect many more problems from them. The cage with the mothers in it is doing well with only the caramello early flowering.

Hay all wish everyone a better year than they had the year befor
I just got a prescription for medical buds but the prices are way too high
for me to see it as a continued thing , Im looking for a few seeds maybe
anyone has or knows about anyone who can slip a couple into a paper
envelop ??? any help would be awsome

Purple punch auto. Got about 1 oz dry but not too happy with the structure as it is meant to be indica dominant. Had to pull her 2 - 3 weeks early due to rot

I don't believe it is meant to flower this early but I assume because it is crossed with an autoflower somewhere in its genetics the change in light made it go into flower. Your girls are looking amazing I'm kind of regretting doing clones instead of seedlings this year but it's just a learning curve normally my girls would be alot bigger by this time but awell will still get enough to see me through the year.

Bit of a sad update this time turns out there were more possums than I anticipated and one trap wasn't enough so now I've got 2 set but the damage has been done. Most of the plants are destroyed but a few still standing and others will recover but not reach their full potential.

All of these plants are sitting at the same height which is approximately 1m they have been tied down twice to promote outwards expansion and have a diameter of close to 1m now I will leave them to do their thing. The cage is 2.4 meters high so plenty of room to grow upwards I raised it by 900mm at the start of the season due to it not being tall enough every other time. No possums are able to get in so thank God for that I will still be trading around this patch too for safe measure.
