I have never met a democrat online or anywhere that can explain to me how Obama has time and time over and over been able to change the non-affordable health care act into something that looks nothing like the bill Congress passed to him.

I don't need a third grade lesson on the separation of powers. What I want to know is how Obama is exercising power he DOESN'T have. I keep trying to make it as simple for you to understand as possible. Obama is breaking the law. Rewriting the non-affordable care act is not in his job description, yet he does it anyway. You seem irreplaceable, good for you. But the hundreds of thousand of people that are FORCED to accept the offer of 30 hours or less or they won't be hired are not so fortunate. Those are the ones that make Obamacare necessary. It seems that Obamacare is needed now more than ever, seeing as the new norm is to make the employee pay as much as possible for their insurance, if it is offered at all. This after being paid the minimum allowed by law in most cases, they have little hope of improving their lot, but that is because they don't have the balls to succeed, right. This system, that only has been incorporated in the last 15 years it seems, is dehumanizing and in simple terms sucks. It has, and continues to cause hardship for it's employees and anyone that counts on them for a living such as the corner store. That is what has created Obamacare, seeing as the new norm for companies such as Wal-Mart is treating their employees as burdens, instead of assets that should be appreciated and paid a wage that will at least keep them above the poverty line, and not have to work 2 or more jobs to survive. This, in my opinion is a recipe for disaster as far as the economic health of the nation is concerned, but the profit margins needed to keep those stockholders happy is worth the damage to our society , right?

We don't want workers to be paid a wage that will keep them above the poverty line. We spent almost $500 billion at Walmart just last year and an astonishing percentage of us actually shop there every single week. Walmart's crappy treatment of its employees is nothing new--it's been well-known for a very long time now--and yet we made it grow bigger and bigger and bigger. We enabled it to drive lots of other stores throughout the country out of business.
Pointing your finger at Walmart doesn't make any sense. All Walmart does is give us what we want, which is the lowest possible price, fuck the workers and damn every other consideration. We don't care. We love Walmart, and with every single transaction we signal our approval of its behavior, encouraging it to continue. We know the workers don't make shit; we know they're getting food stamps and Medicaid. We don't care.
And for the record, Walmart's profit margin last year was just 3.6%. For every dollar spent at Walmart, its shareholders got just 3.6 cents. You know who actually pocketed the money that could be going to pay employees more? We did, in the form of lower prices that amounted to far, far more than the shareholders ever receive. That's why we love Walmart, because it makes us better off, and that's really all we care about.
Corporations have no power. Ultimately we empower them, and in reality we have total control over what they do, because they cannot exist without us.

Why is progressive such a bad word? I would think regressive would be more of a problem, seeing as mankind should be striving to expand, not even stay the same, which is what the Republicans seem to want at all cost. I am proud to be called progressive. Thanks for the compliment, caveman.

It's not the word or the definition that's the problem. It's the regressive meaning of the word in political terms that I don't like. You do know this is the politics forum, right? e.g. Liberals don't believe in liberty, they believe in a government with an army of expensive bureaucrats in so many departments and agencies that nobody can even name them all.
"We" is anyone who shops there, tens of millions of people every single week. Walmart takes in more revenue each year than any other company in the world; Target, Costco, and Kroger combined do about half the sales Walmart does.

Sorry, Cheesus, I'm not here every day. If you advocate a single payer system, then I agree with you. This bastardized forced insurance, is not what were working for. I support fully socialized health care, but I think that private functions should still be allowed. Like our schools. We have public education (which mostly sucks), and private education (which only somewhat sucks) (Both mostly suck because of government involvement). Let people have that choice. Open state based charity hospitals that will take care of anyone. And let private hospital's do as they have been.
I can't believe our paid representatives can't see this simple solution. You don't like the free health care pay for better. From what I hear England has this kind of system. The poor complain that they don't get the best health care, but they get free health care, so they're better off than Americans.

1 yeah I want single payer with a private market for those who want it or employers who want to offer it as well. But this is the best we got. it is better than nothing.
2 without public education we would fail as a nation. Dont say public school sucks. The facts are if your kid is failing at school. You are failing as a parent. If you want to take goverment out of public education what would you have?

umm, yeah, they passed a bill, passed a budget, compromised and passed another bill.
What concessions have been made to congress and the American people? Obama's not negotiating, he's said as much, he's been given a budget that finances everything but O'care. For Obama, that's a non-starter. He can no longer think of any lies pertaining to what the bill "might" do, so he's just digging in and saying unless I get everything I want, no deal. But totally the pubs fault. They are actually acting in their constituents best interest and people are freaking out. Odd times.
Pro tip: when you sling insults, it's best if they are not shot from your southern orifice, it looks bad.
