The ROTC scholarship is very competitive.
And like ALL progressive boondoggles, you multiply by 10 to get close to the actual cost.

If everyone has at least 2 years of college, won't that make jobs even harder to get? It's a competition after all, but usually the people who get the best jobs just know the right people. If you are a loner and have a 4.0, odds are you will forever live in Mom's basement and work a menial job. This will make you bitter and hateful of anyone who gets successful not because of merit, but because of social standing or government largesse.
NROTC is better, you can be in the Marines then. The Marine Corps is the only US armed service that trains men (and Women) that war is nothing more than a prolonged subhuman slaughter, and that each man (and Woman) must be forged in a fire of realistic combat if they are to survive without breaking from the mental and physical brutishness of real war.
