Obama wins a Nobel Peace Prize

Although I have been deliberately avoiding the Politics section lately, I feel I must comment on this topic.

Recipients of a Nobel Prize have accomplished something in order to get nominated. Nomination comes after the accomplishment. What has Obama done besides talk real purty. Apparently, getting himself elected was the pinnacle of his career and the world community acknowledges this. The selection of Obama for the Nobel Peace Prize is the epitath on his political headstone.

In short: World to Obama - "You're done."
Actually JO, ur right.... Obama has been smacked down on the international level at every turn.

He's a sloooow learner.

this just proves that the nobel peace prize is a popularity contest, and based on political agendas versus merit

this also means its worthless and has been for some time, moving on

supposedly they are crediting him with turning the world's view of the US from a crazy war making, irresponsible state, to a leader in negotiation and diplomacy. They also want to credit him for his drive in achieving his agenda with local and foreign policies.

i call bullshit on this one. there's a lot more people that deserve a Nobel Peace prize more than him.

There's this activist from Puerto Rico, Tito Kayak. This guy has stood in the front lines of environmentalism and fighting government corruption world wide. He's demonstrated in New York, stood in front of Army Tanks in Puerto Rico, chronicled the plight of palestinians... he's spent a good 10+ years in prison, was considered dangerous and a menace by Bush's FBI because of his firm anti-war stance.... he deserves it more... and there's around 50 more people like including political prisoners within the U.S. and Latin America I can name that deserve this more than Obama.

Sell out move by the Nobel people....

I will cure cancer...someday.

Can I now win the Nobel prize for medicine?

Seriously...Obama is meeting with his war cabinet as I type this. They are talking about increasing troop levels in Afghanistan.
He has brokered no peace...anywhere. In fact, tensions are as high as ever...EVERYWHERE.

though i realize the nobel prizes were developed as nothing more than a mechanism to assuage that family's guilt over the destruction wrought by good old al's great invention and the fortune he amassed in the armaments industry, i can't help but find it a bit sad that an award that could be used to recognize mankind's great achievements is used instead for such petty political ends. the peace prize seems to be consistently given out to glorify those who do little for peace and more for the spread of that committee's agenda. the pseudo-marxist attitude of the world's leaders seems reflected more and more in each international decision, an attitude bent on wealth redistribution and the tearing down of any existing power structures. not that many of those power structures don't need to be demolished, but what they are replaced with is even more important than that they be destroyed. the power vacuum being created by the systematic destruction of the influence of the accepted world powers must be filled and, though they may claim to be creating a classic dictatorship of the proletariat, this attempt by the world leadership to consolidate power is rather obvious. instead of promoting freedom, we see an authoritarian regime slowly taking shape as the old guard is put to bed.

anyone capable of questioning the intent of the powerful can see why brak was chosen for this dubious honor. it certainly wasn't for anything he has accomplished. even his most ardent supporters can't point to any great deeds performed by this administration. we can't honestly believe it is for his intentions. many people want world peace and if simple desire was enough to warrant such adulation, we would all be taking yearly trips to sweden. no, the rationale behind this choice is simply the great strides our government has taken this year toward the obliteration of america's influence on the world stage. brak has made the rounds since his inauguration, apologizing profusely for america's lack of empathy, ignoring our longstanding position as an advocate for peace and our continuing efforts to relieve the burdens of poverty across the globe, and kowtowing to the rising leaders of the socialist movement, raising them above the lowly status they deserve and degrading america's image at the same time. i'm sure his moves toward erasing two centuries of individual liberty in this country were also of influence in his selection. not since roosevelt has our government done more to free itself from the bonds of popular opinion and this can only have a positive effect for the totalitarian schemes that are springing up around the world. the hope that brak's cult of personality could rival stalin's, considering the nearly irreparable damage old joe did to his country, must have the world leaders foaming at the mouth in anticipation of america's impending doom.

i would love to feel some pride at having a nobel peace prize land on our shores, just as i would have loved to be proud of america for having elected a black man to our highest office, but the motives behind this choice leave me with merely a feeling of dread. this blatant attempt to shore up a totalitarian agenda in the eyes of the world is just another slap in the face of the ideals that this country was founded on and another nail in the coffin for the concept of individual liberties. there are fewer and fewer hopes each year for some power to take a stand against the hive mentality that is being forced on the people of the world, less and less chance of each nation retaining its sovereignty in the face of global authority. another wannabe dictator is being raised up to demigod status today and thankfully we have just enough slack in our chains to applaud.

Seriously, you can't have it both ways. Either it's okay for BOTH OF THEM, or it isn't okay for EITHER of them.

Since Obama is playing into the world's hands by opening up the American store to be looted..... I guess they would love him.
