Ocean Forest soil

Would it harm anything if I were to add say 2 table spoons of lime per gallon of soil before I start my grow? Just to be on the safe side...

Sitting here pondering about it, any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks for replying, do any of you ph your water before using it with ffof? If so what ph do you use?

Also have any of you ever thought about buying some cheapo soil, adding some crushed coral to raise the ph and some lime? Just an Idea, crushed coral is what I use in my african cichlid fish tank, it keeps the ph at about 7.5 (I know this may sound silly)

Also, I've been reading about how some folks have been having issues with ffof, mainly yellowing of the leaves when they begin flowering. If someone has experience with using ffof soil with ff nutes I'd LOVE you see your feeding chart???? And maybe some pics of your grow. Anyway, thanks.

If you want to stay on the safe side of things, I rec you use a nuteless soil to start and grow your seedlings for 2-3 weeks before tranplanting into FFOF....it's pretty hot for new sprouts & seedlings........

Oldreefer, should I wait three weeks before adding any nutes? If I'm using ffof.... I was kinda hoping to start them in the same soil, trying to keep it simple.

You can have issues with any nutes. Plants can react differently, just as there are many strains and requirements. The best way is to start off at 1/4 to 1/2 strength, and work your way up. I don't even get to full strength until after flowering starts.

I flush my soil a little before adding my two week old seedlings, because it is very well fertilized soil right out of the bag. Careful not to over-flush. You still want a fair amount of the nutes in there. I say rinse with water two times your container size. I start the nutes on the second watering, at 1/4 strength. The second week after adding the seedlings, I start at 1/2 strength.

Very important: Use nutes every other watering. You can just follow the feeding schedule in this PDF if you want:

I recommend the entire line of products.
