Ocean Grown seeds and CMH's

Canopy is starting to fill out. I'm thinking I'll flip either this Friday or next Friday. Most likely next Friday.
I believe I'm on the winning side of the battle with the broad mites. I haven't seen any movement by them when scoping and 10,000 preditor mites are arriving tomorrow.

Bx-1 (bubblisious cross) beginning to green up finally and put off some healthy happy young growth. 4 feedings in a row later. When it ran out of nutes from the fox farm ocean forest, after being transplanted from 3g to 7g, it was OUT.

The last feeding I went all in, and gave the highest recommended dose with the dry nutes(organicare), that on top of the others, one being liquid fed(botanicare grow) finally is giving her what she wants.
The poor lady has been a trooper. I think she will end up yielding well. She's about 2x3 feet currently.
I have been doing everything I can to try keeping her short for the other plants to be able to catch up to her. Only a few inch difference now.
I also hung 2 bags of the preditor mites on her(roughly 2000 mites), she's been under attack much longer than the others being about a month to month and a half older.

the cmh seem to be doing well. theyve got my interest
I'm pretty impressed with them. My plants aren't a good representation because they've been so stressed from the broad mites plus I burnt the crap out of them leaving the lights on one of the times I sprayed.

What I've gathered so far on these cmh's:

The 315w vertical fixtures(light bulb screwing in vertically) paired with the philips 3100k bulb seem to be the way to go in comparison with the 630 double ended cmh(growers choice @3000k red enhanced) as far as par readings go. Pretty identical readings yet the 315s obviously are using much less wattage and generate about half the heat.
The growers choice hood deffinitely needs redesigned. The "hot spot" of the light is considerably off to the side, no matter the angle of the light, most intensity shines atleast 1 foot off center and dumps off fast. Its pretty screwy. When working under the lights the 630 feels much more intense but for whatever reason does not show it on the par meter. It does also look to shine slightly brighter than the 315s as well.
We'll see for sure how they compare for flowering(8 more days).

I also own a couple blurples(hydro galaxy) and a 600w hps/mh (Vivosun). I've hung them side by side with my cmh's for a few days and the cmh's excell. Growth seems to slow where the cmh's aren't shining down and par readings don't even compare. I should specify a bit, in comparison with the traditional hid, I only ran the MH next to the cmhs (not the hps), in an open hood (air cooled style but I didn't have the glass in) and at 600 watts of mh, it was pretty clear that the cmhs put it to shame and I took the mh down because I felt I was kind of just wasting electricity.

Now that I have this pest problem under control I'm really excited to see what the cmh's bring. Soon I'll be flowering, and I'm really eager to see the resin production that these are said to excell in.

I was looking for preflowers on one of my plants earlier and it made my fingers sticky just touching the main stalk, already getting aromas too at about 5 to 6 weeks from seed.

3 more days till flip. Plants are looking nice.
This should be a good run, atleast for only my second grow anyway.
I switched back from dry nutes to liquid nutes about a week ago. Too much of a pain to reach all pots and mix in dry nutes. Plus I already have some expeirence with the liquid nutes since that's what I used on my last grow.
-Botanicare grow, bloom(bases), and cal mag+,, growth science silica and rock solid(bloom booster),, and bud candy from AN. Currently using the grow, silica, cal mag, and bud candy for nutes. Grow is given every 3rd watering.
I've also got 21 clones going, fingers crossed for something extra icky.

Bx#1 is greening back up slowly but surely. She's been getting nutes every watering. More and more each time until she's back to full green. Last feeding was up to around 600 ppm.

You have done well Grasshopper, :)

NH, man those are looking great.
I decided to go ahead and flip today. Seven weeks veg, long enough.
Should be done mid January.

Stop by and say hi, see where this ol' Boy is headed with this grow.

Watering the ladies and thought I'd take a moment to recognize my nicest plant.
"BX#4"
She's a cross from a bubblisious male that pollinated several different females. It was a true male and an accident and the person that did it gave me a bunch of the seeds mixed up.
The females names are in the beginning of the thread.
So this plant has got the fastest growth since getting the bugs out of the way, yet still pretty stacked. With the amount of branches and size of the tops its the branchiest plant. She's drinking getting close to every day now and always seems to be the happiest of the bunch. I'm hoping she puts off some nice bud because I have clones of her and if so I'd like to run a mono crop with her. She really is beautiful.
She's the slightly darker one in the center. I'm starting to wonder if the others are being slightly underfed. They seem a bit light but I'm seeing some yellow tips on them too.
She looks a little ruffled up because she was on the edge and I switched her for a small plant in the center. Even more impressive, edge lighting.

Will do, I appreciate the kind words, means a lot:bigjoint:
They are my babies. Getting better slowly but surely.

Very nice grow so far, how hard is it to feed/water that many in a scrog
It's the main task of each evening. Not terrible though. The most time consuming part is probably ph'ing the water each night. I like to be within about .08 of 6.5, preferably nothing over 6.5 though so it can be a bit tedious some days.
And most plants are needing water every other day, a few every 3 days and one or two stragglers being about every 4 days at the moment(one I accidently broke in half a few weeks ago so the roots aren't as developed as the rest of the plants, resulting in less drinking).
The main thing is to pay attention to your plants. Each evening the first thing I do when I get to see my plants is grab my notebook and observe. "This one is looking dark, what have I given it the last 3 or 4 waterings", so I open up my log and look through it. I write down anything and everything that is given to each plant and take note of any plants with special needs.
I started out giving them dry nutes to mix in with the pots but with the canopy and trellis it's a major pain to mix that stuff into the dirt. So I switched to the liquid nutes I used on my last grow(first grow);
Botanicare Grow (veg base)
Botanicare Cal mag plus
Growth Science silica
Advanced Nutrients Bud Candy

I may do a kelp or some sort of seaweed foliar spray sometime soon though and I've been meaning to do some research on how to make "tea". I've seen people talk about it but never looked it up.

Trying out an organic tea blend.
Crab shell meal
Worm castings
Compost tea bags
6 gallons

First time trying a tea. Fingers crossed it does well.

The plants don't look perfect but I'm pretty happy with how far I've come since my first grow. I'm busy all the time, if I'm not working my 50 to 60 hour a week job I'm running around like a chicken with my head cut off trying to get all tasks done each night for the grow. As soon as I'm done it's time to eat and go to bed, some nights I don't eat. No time for sitting on the couch, basically ever. It's so nice to say "I'm flipping to flower".
I see light at the end of the tunnel for all my hard work.
Everything from still trying to figure out how much to even water my plants all the way to battling broad mites.
Tonight I have a smile on my face.

Awesome grow man, like the variety you got going on.

Stoked to see more people starting to run CMH's. I fell in love with them years back when I ran single 315w in a closet set up. I am running the Nanolux DE 630's.

Looking forward to seeing those babies blooming under the UV!
