odor control problems

hi,
in the room i am using there is a little window. i have used this room before and the amount of smell that escapes when the door is closed is not too large. however, when i open the room during flowering for a few seconds the whole house reeks, which is not ok.
i am wondering whether a carbon scrubber would be usefull in this situation because the air passing through the scrubber would simply pass through the scrubber and remain in the room. i do not know whether this will significantly decrease the smell. i cannot run exhaust pipes out the window because this would draw attention and the window is a shape which does not allow this either. so basically what i am looking for is advice on how to reduce smell using a technique that doesnt require pumping air out of the room.
thanks in advance for the help

I use self contained carbon scrubbers that constantly scrub the air in the rooms. I replace the carbon about once a year. Depending on the size of your space they can be very affordable. I have one in each room and they work great.

thats exactly what i am looking for. could you please elaborate on the difference between a normal scrubber and a self contained one? i cannot find anything in the forum

thanks for the help, i now know exactly what i need. one more question: if i was to build such a construction myself, does it make a difference whether the air is pushed through the carbon or sucked through the carbon?

I would of thought to push the air through it, i have hole cut for my fan, with the filter attached, sucking air out of the grow and pushing through the filter, removing the smell

So just to clarify for myself, if I make a container full of activated charcoal, connect a fan and pull the air through, I wouldn't need to vent to outside my growroom ? This sounds just what I need as its my first serious grow and as Im doing 5 plants the smell is quite noticable even tho they are still well in the veg state, I think I need to get something like this in place before I enter flowering.

Cheers,
Joe
